2000XL for 4000!??

Should I sell my 2000XL-MCD and get a 4000!?? I sample alot and I would really like to get the 4000 because of the hard drive and the cd burner!!! I was thinking about the 2500 but I want the Akai mpc not the Numark mpc!!! Help me out with some opinions to help me with this desicion thanks fam!!!

Get the 2500 with the JJOS and you'll be settled. I don't know what meaningful difference Numark makes regarding your music.

i got a 2kxl and i personally think its not worth to upgrade to a 2500..
if then definitely 4000..

i guess if i had the 2k classic i'd consider the 2500 but not with the xl.
i'm actually pretty cool with my xl and its only minor stuff like mute groups
and browsing through samples without having to load em up first that i really miss on it..

plus the handling is different and i'm just too lazy to learn a new machine.
i'll stick with my xl as long as i don't feel like i really need to upgrade..

i guess it also depends on what other gear u got like pc/mac and software and shit
cause alot of the stuff i'd get with an upgrade i can do with software..

^ its a great machine and i've done some good work with it in the 4 or 5 years i've been using it....but blinkinlights is right...there are quite a few features lacking, ESPECIALLY the mute groups....i think thats such a sick feature. but now i've got the compact flash card reader in there its a lot better than before when i was cursing it for having to save to the ever-unreliable zip/jaz drives (don't even mention floppies lol).

if i were u Exclusive and i had the dough, i'd hold on to my 2000xl AND cop the 4000. that way u can still make beats in your comfort zone on the xl but learn the monster that is the 4k at the time.

I'd go for the 1k w/ the jj os cause I can't stand the 2500 data wheel. I thought we left the click of death behind with zip drives, we just changed it up.

Yeah I'm hold on to it and stack enough chips for the 4000!!! I love my XL now that I think of it! I don't think I could sell it!!! Thanks fam!!

get an Emu rack and sit your 2000xl ontop of that, now you have 128mb of RAm, 16 part multil timbral, shit load of fx, re-sampling, internal harddrive. and those famous Z plane filters.

did i mention you get a sh1te load of filters!!!

The E4X Ultra would be my recommendation as it can take IDe harddrives.

I'm at the same point. But I still kind of want a 4k because if you're going to save for a 2500, might as well put up a lil more money and get the big dog 4k. To me, the 2500 is like the 1k's big brother, but the 4k is in a league of its own. I've been told to get the 2500 with JJ OS and I've been told to save and get the 4k also but the main reason I thought about the 2500 was because it was still supported by akai and has the features I'm looking for too. I think either one would be a good upgrade from the xl. I've realized the XL's strong point over these machines while doing all my research though, rock solid OS.

get a rack sampler, then you can sequence from the mpc, and still retain the groove.

get the 2500 with JJos2. Alot of the features the 4000 has will be on OS2. I wouldnt waste my time/money with a buggy discontinued machine unless you absolutely need 960ppq.

get the 4000, better yet white and blue and dont **** with that other numark shit.

or stick with xl and get s5000 or s6000. those e6400 emu samplers gotten real cheap lately

I agree the 4000 is the one or stick with the XL as the 4000 is like a whole new level of MPC and its not that bad to learn
