Akai Mpc 3000 Sampling & Buying Help

i want to buy a 3000 beacuase it has a warmer sound than the newer mpc.
i read that the 3000 sampling is diffrent than the newer mpc's can some body explain the diffrence and the pros and cons of the 3000 and what to look for in buying one.

It does have a "warmer sound" but dont get caught up on that like most people do. The real difference in sound comes when your using a SP or comparable unit. The mpc3k is a solid machine though thats for sure. If you already have a mpc above say just the 500 the mpc3k wont do anything for your beats. It might even slow you down if you dont learn the 3k right. If you already have a newer mpc and want "grit" or "warmth" buy a s900 , s950 or similar rack or one of the older emu racks that has the SP grit like the emax. Look at what your favorite producer uses 90% of the time its just what they started with. Why? Because its the machine they know already....

Great! That leaves an extra MPC "Roger Linn" 3000 on the market for me.

When you sample you can't pick when you want to stop sampling you have to set it by how many seconds you want to record but it's not that usually 10sec. is about 4bars with most songs.

iight cool man so you saying i have to judge how long the sample is when i sample it and edit out the extra air if i need to.
so that why sampling is difficult on it?

I would not use the word 'difficult' .

Of course, if this feature was in the OS it would be great.

Now if your serious about chopping on the 3K , get the Vailixi 3.50 OS from http://www.mansell-labs.com . Not only does it have a proper truncate function, it allows the user to chop samples in real time
