How to turn ALL NOTES off?Local control off? in jjos1,2 ?

Hello,
How do I turn the local control off on the Mpc 2500 jjos when in my DAW I get a flange sound when the midi is selected or enabled in cubase... Thanks if you can help.

I understand the mode pad 9 + turn off : pad to internal sound ,but even in cubase when the correct midi channel is selected and I PLAY BACK the sequnce on the mpc within cubase it makes the flange sound. If I change the midi output on the midi channel it will obviously go away but that's not the point as I need the midi data in cubase for tweaking.

Also if I go into prefrences in cubase it has a function called midi thru that will stop the flange,but then no vst instruments will work. I remember my 4000 was layed out different and you could assign a different output for this kind of thing.. any help would be much appreciated ..thanks
