Whats the best UK price for a new MPC1000?

Looking to bite the bullet and finally buy a new MPC1000. The price seems to have held at the £500 but Ive found it slightly cheaper at Westend DJ.

don't underestimate ebay bro, i got mine from there but you just gotta be patient. wait for 1 to come up in your area or somewhere you can get to then you can go check it out in person and maybe get sum £ off with a cash in hand deal. when i did that the bloke ended up giving me a load of free sample cds and knocking a score off the asking price!oh yeah take into account the cost of upgrading too and your looking at nearer 600 if you buy new.

well, if you buy used you gotta factor in the pad replacement..

however i seen a bunch of units on ebay that are sold with the jjos installed...

not sure I really wanna buy used - never liked second hand gear as I look after my stuff likes its a baby. Many others dont. (but no Im not rich - just would rather have warranty and returns with new kit)

yeah i got mine a couple of weeks back, I wanted to buy new too,for the same reasons, and wanted to make sure i got the newest version.
That price at westend dj is the best iv seen, they also do finance options in there too so you can walk out with the 1k and still afford to eat for the rest of the month!!
I ended up buying mine from tune-inn cos i just like the shop better and its a bit closer to my house, if you're in the south london area id give them a call. i paid £500 for it in the end but saved myself a couple of tube rides! good luck!

Iv found a shop in Guildford which is nearer to me that will price match.
Also they have a 7 day no quibble return policy incase im not "feeling" it (I know it will take alot longer to learn the machine)

They have one unit left and Im just waiting for them to confirm its a new model.
Fingers crossed I'll be down there tomo buying it.....maybe.....

How you finding it? Im trying to move away from the PC in search of the more organic production.
Im hoping I can use it with ACID Pro as thats what I mainly use. Just not sure if Im gonna like the restrictions the MPC has. But Im not gonna find out without owning one and at least they hold there value.

i got mine from digi village which had the pad upgrade, jus incase thats a factor. jus under £500.

yeah so far im getting on with it quite well, this is actually my first venture into making my own stuff so i cant really comment on any restrictions it has. For me its a very steep learning curve at the moment and i do seem to have my head stuck in the manual more often than im actually using the MPC! but like i said im starting this totally from scratch, if you are used to acid pro im guessing you are at least familliar with all the terminology, which is definitely gonna help you! but be prepared for a lot of head scratching. As for the returns policy, that sounds great but id be very surprised if you use it, once id finished my first sequence ( which took a while) i got a big old grin across my face and after that you couldn't tear me away from it. Also as you will find out surprisingly quickly you will need to upgrade the ram and the CF card and get the jjos, so you wont want to take it back after spending the extra cash. I actually haven't updated to jjos yet cos i wanna get familliar with what all the functions actually do first but from what i read on here it is something that you really have to do as soon as you can. hope that helps!

I just bought a second hand 2500 for a great price and it is in "new" condition, with the cover still on the screen, OS 1.00b! It has not been used at all.

You can get great deals second hand, but it takes time and effort. (Although I have not looked at any MPC's before this one, lucky strike in first take)

I know the website is up nut I don't think you can order though it - also the physical shop is shut along with about 16 branched of Sound Control.

A few people from http://www.kvraudio.com got stung big time because they'd paid for stuff on back order. Now they've gotta flight to get their money back.
