Problem with MPC 2000 Classic Recognizing Zip Drive (SCSI)

I just got my Zip Drive recently and when I hook it up to my computer it reads fine, But when I Hook it up to my MPC2000 it gives me a screen that says wait and it doesn't come out of that screen ?

You need to make sure the MPC knows which port the SCSI zip drive is hooked up to, and that the SCSI zip drive (look on the back of the zip drive) has the correct selector switch - my MPC always looks for the zip drive on port 5, and I always have to make sure port 5 is selected on my zip drive, otherwise I get the same problem.

I think mine is on port 7. But I don't see a selector switch on the Zip drive. How do u change the ports on the MPC.

I think mine is on port 7. But I don't see a selector switch on the Zip drive. How do u change the ports on the MPC.

Then you screwed and need a SCSI Zip Drive with termination switch on the back you can't use the one that you are using.

I've made the same mistake by buying a zip drive with a parallel port, need a scsi zip drive.

Nah, the MPC just checks every channel on boot. Once it detects a drive with a file system containing the OS .exe and .sys, it boots from that. If it doesn't find anything on the first scan, it asks you to insert the OS floppy. Now, when in the Load/Save screen, you simply select which channel to browse (Floppy, SCSI-0 through 7, Flash ROM)

I'm having the same problem, last time I asked on this forum I was told it was down to a broken fuse in the MPC but I had a look inside and it just confused me - doesn't look like theres even room for a fuse in the port itself. Would greatly appreciate any help on the subject - it's not that I ahve hte wrong kind of drive, because it was working fine before

It has to have switches on the back of the drive. Go to this link

Yeah it's got the switches - as I say it was working fine before so I'm pretty sure it must be a blown fuse. Has anyone replaced one of these themselves? Also how do they break - what could have caused it (so i don't do it again!)

If you had the mpc on 1st and then poewred up the zip you may have burned out the scsi ? ive done that before always have the scsi on 1st and then turn the mpc on

how can this be resolved will i ahve to take it to the shop or could it be easily sorted?
