hey forum,
i bought os2 only seconds before the price went up, so i'm moving all my pgms and seqs to os2 right now.
now that i get into it i discover some really great features and some i hope jj will keep working on.
here are my thoughts about the new os:
track mixer:
i like it! need to get used to it, but a daw-styled mixer is great!
but at the moment it's not very usefull to me:
if i record 2 or 3 hihats, set pan and fx and then go to track mixer. i want to keep my pan and fx settings (pgm-mode), but i can't change the track-velocity either, because to set track-velocity, i need to switch to track-mode. so both, the sample-mixer and the track-mixer, won't let me record a track, pan it, set fx and then change the track-level.
or do i miss something?
main screen:
i still don't like how track and pgm are placed on main screen. i switch through my track all the time, but once i set the pgm, i don't really touch that anymore. so why did jj put the pgm right in the middle of the screen, where the track used to be in os1?
maybe i just need to keep working with it, so i'll get used to it...
plus 'click' and 't.c.' should be exchanged asap. that was a great idea, nym(?)!
gpe:
if i hit 'window' in gpe, so i can change the pads amp, filter, pitch etc, i don't get why jj put the 'close' button right in the middle between all the other buttons. he should keep the order of gpe!
if we have "amp - pitch - filter - lfo - out/mute" in gpe, why make it "amp - pitch - CLOSE - filter - lfo" in pad edit?
and here is some strange behvious i found, not sure if it's bugs...
if you assign a sample to an audio-track, some pads trigger the sequence play, stop, play start.
and in trim mode i think pad 05 to 08 trigger a looped sample to play constantly.
well well, i think that's all. i love the new os, this is just a collection of stuff i wanted to share while i was sitting on my mpc last week.
bye
