Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Its not even a year in the making since I have bought my 500
but I am over impressed. as a beat programmer i had never sequenced
using an MPC before you could say I was NOOB. I have used AKAI
samplers before s950,s2000,xl3000 but i never had a chance with the MPC
DAAAAAAMNNNN I HAVE SERIOUSLY BEEN MISSING THIS MACHINE.
Today I sequenced a beat using my motherboard and reason midi'd up
to the 500 took the quantise off, (I saw sum guy do this on youtube)
and banged the fattest little sixteen bar ever. Seriously the Akai groove is
alive and kicking, I have been making beats in studios for 10 years and every
piece of equipment I had ever bought was computer stuff. Now im kicking it
retro with a mixer turntable 500 and ma pc/soundcard and headphones until i get
some monitors but if you are on a budget get one eventually il sell my pc and get
the 2500 i recommend MPC500 all the way.

Oh STUPID ME I forgot to Big up this site cos these guys are more than helpful thanks.
Also the mpc tutor ebook i downloaded a couple of months back helped me out
BIG TIME. When I went to buy my 500 there was another customer there who was
asking me about mpc's i was telling him the swing is da Lick from what i heard
and i took the last 500 on the shelf and left the shop. He was eyeing the 1000
I know if he purchased that he is sending me his thanks in praise lol but i wouldnt
sell my 500 just add like a HI-FI Stack.

Well, i don't miss anything the bigger models can do :-). The 500 is a bad ass sampler AND sequencer! I sequence all my MIDI stuff from this little unit, and it's super! Also tough build!

for sure. sometimes after i make a beat to, or just start an idea i know will be tight, ill unplug the mpc from everything and just hold it and look at it. they packed a sh*t load of stuff into a tiny ass machine, and current and future software updates willl only make it better.

personally, the only thing i wish the 500 had were assignable outs. i dont minda recording each track out sepereatly, but assignable outs would assure all tracks to be on beat, and it would speed up the work flow for me by a lot.

but no complaints otherwise.
