Only 1 pgm working at a time?

Hi guys,
I've been playing around with the 2000xl for a while, and I wanted to record a bassline along with a drum track. I record the drums on TRACK 1, it sounds fine, but when I change to TRACK 2 and record the bassline, and then try to play TRACK 1 and TRACK 2 back simultaneously, it will only play both tracks using 1 program, either the drums or the bass. So I will either hear a horrible sounding drum track or a real bad bass line.

I've read the manual, and it says that the 2000xl can play 4 programs simultaneously; how come it keeps automatically changing my other tracks program I assigned to it?

Your not understanding your machine, that's what's happening.

Each sample needs it's own track.

Once you record on a track with a sample, use a new track for recording a new sample.

Get back into your manual and get a hold of the basics.

4 active and 26 loaded in memory.

No, lampdog, I understand that each sample needs it own track, I said in the post that I recorded the drums to track 1, and the bass to track 2. I know its a simple question, but I did read the manuals and tried everything I thought would logically work. Before I would use 1 program and different tracks, because I could play different tracks simultaneously, but it would only let me use 1 program at a time, so I would record the drums to PGM 1, bank A, bass to PGM 1, bank B, etc... But it gets really counterproductive to do it that way after a while.

As far as i can remember you should not use the "PLAY START" Button when using more than one program it will switch them back to one... use the play button only, this might solve your problem.

hey, tried it... still doesn't work. Its real weird, like my drums are PGM 2 and bass is PGM 4... I recorded TRACK 1 with PGM 2, and when I change TRACK 2 to use PGM 4, TRACK 1 automatically switches to PGM 4. When I go to TRACK 1 it says it's still using PGM 2, even though its playing bass notes so its obviously using PGM 4. Thanks for the input though, I'm thinking maybe my 2000xl is glitching or something?

I've never heard of that, never seen it and never had that problem....


It might be a corrupt OS, try reinstalling the os.

does it have something to do with which programs are assigned to which Drum Set (1 - 4)

when you enter the program mode, you select 1 of 4 drum sets.
maybe all the 4 sets are the same PGM?

sounds like youve created a new pgm in memory after having one previously loaded on DRUM1. When a new PGM is created/added, it will go into DRUM1 by default unless specified by the user.
