Garbled Samples - unusable argh!

Sampling off my ipod has suddenly started to create the wierdest noises - it's like the garbled sounds you can get when you're deleting a sound and you hit one of the pads: This isn't the ipod's fault. I haven't tried sampling from my decks because they're also fudged, but I'm guessing it would be the same problem... Anyone else had this error? I searched but to no avail

Do you only get garbled samples when you sample from a digital source? I had the same problem, but only when sampling stuff from my computer, like mp3's. I noticed that songs with content that isn't too intense sample pretty good, like strings or orchestra samples. I got garbled results when there was alot going on in the sample, like loud drums and vocals.

as i said, my decks are shagged so I can't test it, but i don't know how it could make any difference as it's going through the same input in the back of the mpc - when the music isn't too heavy the samples work kind of ok, but when it picks up and theres a lot going on it goes crazy - i don't know why because i've sampled stuff like industrial metal before and it copped out on me as soon as i started on some ska the other day
at least i'm not getting distracted by it any more though, gives me time to revise for finals...

yea, your decks should work fine, they're an analog source. It gets sketchy when you sample from a digital source. I never really got into sample rates and all that, but theres some logical reason as to why hyped up music samples badly... I've always wondered about it myself.

fuk sampling from mp3's, if its garbling all your samples its dodgy RAM inside your machine. but mp3's will always suffer in terms of quality, cause they have already had the soul ripped out of them and can never be replaced.

shame i amassed my 300+ albums on CD instead then, but it doesn't seem to matter so much when sampling dirty punk anyway

the problem has been diverted by running it through the kaoss pad - turns out fine then, I think whoever said about the bit rate was right on... the KP also seems to drain the quality even more though which is prpetty lame
