Yeah, but sometimes after normalizing, the sample is clipping slightly. You can't turn that down.

i've always preferred the more sensible "normalize to -3 db" you find on some wav editors

Never had problems with clipping. Normalize is a rather easy mathematical process, getting the sample to clip would be more complex...

That's strange, I normalize almost everything I sample, and I never have a problem with clipping. Unless you have a click or pop in a quiet sample already, it shouldn't bring the level to the point of clipping.

yeah, course you have lol. on the other hand, what you could be hearing is glitchy clipped sampled noise that's always been there in the sample but only becomes noticeable when you normalize it

Wait a minute. Hold the phone. I seem to have grown into my ears to the point where I am not stared and/or laughed at, but my friend, I also have large ears. I can count several nicknames and bad times that came with these ears (my personal favorite was always Baby New Year), and I still have not had a problem with clipping. Unless... and this is where it might get interesting, the sample had parts thet were overloaded from the start. (And I've seen your photo with your perfect ass ears. You look like Montel, and yes, I would like some free medication and a tour of your dope bus...)

i wanted to normalize part of a sample to match the rest of tha samples volume without having to chop and make 2 samples,and it also brings in a somtimes cool effect after normalizing and the fltering out the noise.just wanted to adjust the normalize and not the input.

check your record level, dont peak out when your recordin them samples. normalize should never clip out a sample.

i dont get clipping and its not an input subject,its just a how do i adjust the normalize question.if no one knows theres no need to respond.thanks to everyone trying to help.

I don't know why, but it seems like I always need to normalize my samples. I never needed to do this on my 2000XL. I also find myself using the REC GAIN knob, and I never had to use it before.
But for the original post, I experience the same thing too, but I usually resample and lower the sound, but sometimes, I hear clipping also. An option to lower the final output would be nice.
