Is the 500 the Only MPC you have? i have a 2000XL and 60 also. Also, what was ur primary reason to get the 500? I just wanted something portable so i can sample shit anywhere. Just seeing were everyones heads are at? Hope your enjoying it, this weekend I can finally dive into the machine more, should be fun.

Da' 500 isn't going to be my only mpc. I'm going to buy the 2500 sometime in the future when i get good with the 500. I bought the 500 1st because of 2 reasons....1)Portability and 2)Cheapest.
I get ideas from going to certain places, (i.e., the park, the library, by the lake, etc.) You can't create shit from another location when you get inspired with any other MPC, except the 500.

My primary reason to get da 500 was the price and portability. I travel often so I'm happy with compact equipment that fits in my luggage. And I couldn't afford the 1000 anyway.
I guess most 500 users are the ones who can't afford more, because I would use 4 more pads and JJos!..

It's my only mpc. Main reason for this over the 1000 is price, but I love the portability aspect - do some programming etc at work at lunchtimes (don't like banging pads at my desk though!) and also lounge about on my sofa with it. I love the machine and not sure I would ever get rid of it.

Yes, the MPC 500 is the only MPC I own. I bought it mainly for MIDI sequencing, and chose it over the 1000 for its compactness and cuteness. For many years I used an AKAI ASQ10 (anyone remember those? - essentially an MPC60 without the sampling - a great sequencer, but a bit of a lump), then went to a Yamaha QY700 - even better than the ASQ10 as a sequencer, but a lousy sound module. Then I took a serious wrong turn, sold that and bought a Roland MC-909, hoping it would be a one box solution, only to find that as a linear sequencer it's total pants. Recently sold that on ebay, and now I'm using the MPC500 as a sequencer, with a Roland Sonic Cell as my main sound source.
