Sonar, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic...aren't they too much? I have the 1K synced up to my Microkorg and XV5050. I basically sequence the entire song in my MPC. So now I want to 1. record 2. add vocals 3. a few cuts of the tables 4. mix-down to one wav. Is there a good program for this? Do I still have to spend the $$ for the higher end sequencers that do the same ish the MPC does?

If it means anything, I have Acid Pro 4, which I tried to record audio into, but getting the takes locked in together...IT'S MURDA!!

You didn't mention what platform you're running on, but if you're on a mac or linux box, try Audacity (it's free and really pretty damned good) and if you're on a PC, check out Cool Edit Pro or Pro Tools Free.... Just my 2...

I'm running a Windows 98se on a 1.2GB with 256 RAM. I will have to update to XP to use most of the higher end stuff. I've heard a lot about CEP. Am I correct in assuming that you record your tracks in that then use something like Wavelab or SF to tweak em right?

You can tweak them right in Cool Edit (new name - Adobe Audition)

Man, I saw all this stuff on CEP, but avoided it and got ACID. Audition looks tight! Record, mix, master and avoid the XP upgrade. Can you set it to record audio on the first sound like the MPC? Or do you have to do the match game? This might be easy to do, but I just can't get the hang of it.

have you got a mixer with all that gear?

should be a piece of cake to sync, just "stripe" a SMPTE channel and youre laughing.
