SOUNDFORGE OR RECYCLE?

WASSUP YALL I GOT A QUICK QUESTION. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO OF THESE PROGRAMS? WHAT I WANT TO DO IS GET SAMPLES FROM THE COMPUTER OR A CD BUT INSTEAD OF SAMPLING AND TRIMMING,CHOPPING ON THE MPC I WANT TO DO ALL THAT IN A SOFTWARE PROGRAM BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD BE A LITTLE BIT EASIER. ALL I WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO IS MESS WITH THE SAMPLE IN THE PROGRAM AND WHEN I HAVE THE SAMPLE HOW I WANT IT SAVE IT TO A ZIP DISK AND LOAD IT UP IN THE MPC. THEN ASSIGN THE DIFFERENT SAMPLES TO PADS ON THE MPC SO I CAN PUT THEM INTO A SEQUENCE.ALSO WHAT FORMAT SHOULD I SAVE THE SAMPLE AS IN THE PROGRAM SO THAT THE MPC WILL RECOGNISE IT?ALSO CAN I BUY MPC EDITOR AT GUITAR CENTER ?

These programs are nothing alike, first off. One is a wave editor, (a very complex manually-worked beast) the other is a chopper-exporter with some neat tricks built in like compression and such. (an almost entirely automated beast)

Sound Forge is for editing individual samples, or adding effects to phrases, etc. Recycle is for chopping and nothing but. It's almost stupid how easy it makes this for you. You input the number of bars and beats, drag the level-of-detail slider and Recycle will find the attack of every drum hit or whatever else is in the sample. Well not exactly every, but you can go back and add slices yourself, zoom incredibly easily, and export all the slices at one time. You can even export an akp file, which you can then import to MPC Editor, which will create a pgm file complete with snd files for your MPC.

I didn't even realize Guitar Center was selling MPC Editor. That's really cool.

MPC Editor will even allow you to maintain the sequence of slices in the original order if you tell Recycle to export a midi file with the slices and akp.

YOU COULD JUST TRY EDITING THE SOUNDS ON THE LCD THAT CAME WITH THE MPC 2K??

WORKS FOR ME.
