Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By brainstorm Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:28 pm
So the down arrow key on the cursor keypad, on my MPC2000xl isn't working! Anyone ever deal with this before? Is it going to cost me big to fix this stupid little thing? Can I do it myself?

I can still navigate most of the screens by using the right arrow to move the cursor through the fields, but that doesn't work for all the screens. Arrg!

so that should fix it? just replacing the button. I mean my button feels and looks fine the down arrow just doesn't do anything.

that'd be nice I can afford 5$

Thanks

take the front case off, and check to see if the switch works if you press the black circle down. it may be the cursor button or the actual switch on the circuit board.

I tried taking the top panel off and pushing on the black circle thing on the circut board and it didn't work.

I guess that means its not the 5$ button thats broken but something on the circut board itself

Anyone ever have to deal with something like this? Any advise?

I live high up in the mts of Colorado. We still have about 4 feet of snow. Theres no music store out here at all. There is on guy who is pretty good at fixing electronics. Do you think someone without experience on an MPC could fix it. He fixes recievers, turntables and electronics. It can't be that different, can it?

Or should I send it out to a specialized mpc repair shop and pay out the ass.

the $5 button is fine, its the 5cent tact switch you need to replace. pretty easy to do if your confident with electronics.

Thanks nanoloop,

5 cents, this keeps getting better...

I found the tact switch, but it lists as 8$, do you know some where else to get it?

ok, I'll either do it myself or have this local electronic repair guy do it.

Is there instructions or info any where you know of?

I found some more info in the forums for future reference:

These are the tact switches on ebay. (correct me if I'm wrong)

you can get 100 for the same price as 1 from mpcstuff
