I just got a S950 and Ive been on it for like a day and I think Ive learned it inside out.

I just got a question.

Does it only play one PROGRAM at a time?

Cos I started out making a Program for my bassline, then one for my chopped phrase samples and one for other ish.
I cannot assign different programs to different midi channels. It always has to be one program with different KeyGroups which can be assigned to different midi ch/audio outputs.

Is it supposed to be like this?
Does it use programs like the mpc does: only one at a time?

Thanks.

Except that, the s950 is MONO all the way, which means that if you assign a sample on say, out 1 and 5 and send another one to same outs, the first sample will always override the second one, like the mono function one the 2kxl. So, if you want to get a full layered drumkit on the 950, forget it even if you're using a mono mixer. There aren't enough outs. 8)

Hmmm.. the left and right outputs mix the signals on outputs 1-4 and 5-8, respectively.

If you have 4 mono sounds, with a fifth layered sound you want on one output, you could assign the first 4 signals to outs 1-4, and layer sounds on outputs 5-8 (which are mixed on the right output).

Wouldn't this allow layering?
