MPC 2000xl or 2500 for the begining?

I'm just looking for the advise basically. Looking to buy my 1st mpc ever and have few options:

1.mpc 2000xl se1 limited edition model (£650)
2.mpc 2500 (950e)

Price wise they both are very similar..I've a lot of threads on these pieces and still can't decide which one to copy etc. I kinda like the se 1 model for its classy looks and its swing or groove feature, which is lack on 2500 (or at least you have to really **** with it until you get it). But on the other hand the 2500 model has more features and the price is not that different. So what I really want to find out starting this debate is - which one you fellas would buy if you could get both for the same price?What would be your preferences, considering that it would be your first mpc ever? Seriously, I've never used one before..

ive had a 2000 and i currently have a 1000

the connectivity you get with the 2500 is a huge factor for workflow.
-usb, internal HD, and card reader

with the 2000 u gotta mess with floppy discs n long load times.
-u could install a multi card reader but thats more hassle and 2500 has it stock

2500 all the way in combo with the JJOS

nyms right, all that talk about classic groove and swing is hogwash

While I agree 100% with what you say Lampdog, it sort of begs the question: what is the point of this MPC comparison forum existing in the first place?

It seems to me thats exactly what the OP did: he can't decide which MPC to get so he posted a question asking for advice. Its not his fault this forum exists.

Sorry, didn't mean to piss off anybody wiht the same questions all over again. Yes the similar threads already exist on this forum. Yes I've read the all. But my question is which one would you go for and why: 2000xl se1 or mcd vs 2500, as I can get the deal for the same price. I really appreciate every opinion, as it's gonna be my 1st mpc.

I can see that a lot of you reckon that 2500 is the choise to go with, and that swinging groove on 2000 series is not accountable as such feature. I'm sure 2500 has the same sound, even many people are arguing that it doesn't..Anyways, at this stage my brain tells me that I should get 2500, but my heart wants 2000xl

So more comments to my question are very welcome. If anyone wnts to kill this debate, I don't mind.

2000xl is a fantastic machine
2500 is a more featured, functional machine
2500 invites you to "get inside" more cuz there's more to get into - both in terms of features, OS, and hardware. modifications can be made to the latter two.

if you're all/only about performance, (literal performance, pad hitting) get the 2000xl
if you're about performance/deep sequencing/visibility/faster load times etc, get 2500 with jjos

today, there's a STRONG reason to get an mpc that is "jjos compatible"
that reason is "support"
all other mpcs don't appear to have any

I appreciate your opinion lampdog. I also checked your beatz on soundclick, which I found very much worth attention and different. Which mpc do you use yoursef?

Is there anybody who would argue towards the mpc 2000 series?

And which piece is more user friendly?

For a beginner between the 2kXl and 2500, of course it should be the 2500, its a no-brainer as you say in the US.

He didn't mean why would you ask the question he meant why would you have to ask the question.
The comparision forum works best when there's an actual comparison.
In the case of the 2k vs 2500 it's a comparison is a 2k owner is asking about the doing the upgrade.
If it's a first time purchase the 2k doesn't compare to the 2500 unless you're strapped for cash.
All in all the 2500 has very few problems and can be had pretty cheap now since they are trying to unload as many of them as they can before the 5k ships since the 2500 is being discontinued.
It always takes them a while to make it official (remember the blue 2k and 4k) but the 2500 is being phased out.
This is part of what delayed the ship date of the 5k.
So keep in mind with either unit you are buying a end of life product but the 2500 still has the JJ support.
