Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

My roomate is technophobe of sorts and asked me to update hiss MPC 4000. I got everything i need have everything set up to go. But before I do, should i back up his music or is it all safe to update w/o backing up?

It is safe. Your friend should learn to back up all his work on to CD after every session, just in case the HDD fails one day.
