Easy way to assign samples

Hi I want to share with you my way to assign samples. I think this is the easiest method this far.

Just download and install MPC 1000 EDITOR FOR PC and assign your samples as you like. The pgm file from MPC 1000 are the same as the MPC 500.

When you already assign samples you click "transfer" from file menu and create name - for example "programA.pgm". Program already exist - last thing you must to do is copy files to your flash card.

Ofcourse to assign your samples you can youse only 48 pads.

BlueBox works way better for me.

MPC500 works better for me, I don't get how these programs like bluebox are useful because when you sit there and load each sound to pad it produces a pgm file, GREAT! but then you gotta go back and search out every sound and manually bundle each sound file with the pgm file, it just seems like a big waste...If they had a program that would auto bundle the sounds with the pgm file it would be 100% useful, but as of right now it's really a pain in the ass...I think your better off just creating PGM's in the mpc it self...sure is a hell of lot quicker...

I really really wish someone would create a program that would auto bundle the sound files with the pgm file... I'd pay good money for that... but when you got thousands & thousands of samples to dig thru bluebox and the mpc1000 program aint helpin shit!

What are you talking about?? Save the samples to a folder on your cf card. Open blue box. Drag and drop all the files to your pads (or bulk load them in seconds). Save the program in the same folder. Done. Next time you want to recall this program, load the folder with the samples and the program and you're sorted.

I guess I'm talking about I never know precisely what samples I want to use ahead of time so that really wouldn't work to well for me personally ... great idea though if you know all the sounds your gonna use before you start your project! My library is to chaotic with too many sounds to figure out what I will use before hand... But yea that is a great technique, I never really took the time to think of doing that way...good stuff!

I know what you mean about having a chaotic library. I am lucky I guess cause I have been able to tidy my library up during my lunchtimes at work and have a program set up for all my drum kits, multisamples and dug samples and once everything is up to date it is relatively easy to keep things that way. It is well worth the effort and I think if you can find time to do it you should try and sort everything out - maybe the next time you are struggling with inspiration but have time to spend on your craft. You might even find that organising and auditioning everything will bring out some new ideas!

those on a mac can use mpc pad 187 - which has neat interface and works in the same way. It's freeware and available online (google it)!
