how to multisample instruments on the 500?

can anyone help me out? im trying to sample the fantom x6 sound bank onto the mpc 500 so i can play the sounds via a midi keyboard.........ive seen another topic on here where eimer sampled some strings an bass from the microkorg to the mpc 500

I am doing a tutorial at the moment, but my webcams suck so much that the image updates about eight times a second. I'll be posting a link for the toturial here when i get it done.

Play a sound on the fantom and sample it into the mpc and name it including the midi note in the file name (for now stick to the midi notes that you can assign on the mpc so start at B0). Repeat up the keyboard - depending on the timbre of the sound you can skip a number of notes but best not for now. Once you have an octave built up save these to cf card (just for backup purposes). Now, go to program mode and assign the 12 notes to pads A1 to A12 and change the midi note assign for each pad to correspond to your samples (this is easiest done on bluebox but you can do it on the mpc too). Voila! You have a multisample octave you can play on your mpc or via a controller.

Repeat over a number of octaves but remember the mpc500 only covers 4 octaves although you can get round that if you create different programs for different octaves. As I mentioned above some simple sounds can be recreated by using less than 12 notes for an octave and in program mode amending the pitch of the samples to recreate the missing samples. This saves on memory (and saves time too!).

The easiest way to create a multisample pack from an external MIDI instrument is to automate the process.

Use a program like http://www.samplerobot.com/ which will automatically trigger and sample the output of any MIDI synth and save all the samples into a folder on your computer. All you do is set the range of keys you want to sample, the number of notes per octave, and the number of velocities per note and press go. It automatically takes care of the rest saving all the files with useful names in a folder on your computer.

Then I'd use a program like Bluebox to automatically create programs for the MPC500 from the samples in your folder. You can bulk load all the samples you created into Bluebox at once. Press a button to make the pads chromatic and then save your patch into the same folder as the samples.

Connect the MPC to PC with USB and drag the folder over. The whole thing is done without having to manually record, edit or keymap any samples. By doing it this way you would get 10/15 new programs from your Fantom in the same time as it would take to get 1 by manually sampling, edting, mapping. Also you do not have to squint at tiny screens for hours laboriously sampling in one sample for every pad.
