Anyone have a 5000 yet??

The new firmware update is all Bug Fixes - 52 of them!

At least they're not waiting for the box to crash and burn on users before addressing the problems. It is a little scary that a new unit has 52 bugs before it even hits the streets.

the good thing is they r working to fix them all !!!

Try using an MPC 4000 and MV-8000 with OS1 and report back with how many bugs you find inbetween crashes.

Bru, I've been a 4k owner/user (original white version) since early '04 and can't find these bothersome bugs everybody's talking about.

Though I've heard of a few that may exist, I totally disagree with the notion that it's bug ridden to the point that it's unusable.

I hope the 5k holds true to it's rep as being the newest beast on the block instead of gaining notoriety as being a dud because of it's OS.

it better be.. i sold (gave away) my mv8000 back
in february.... I stepped out on faith. so I believe in the MPC5000.
I beleive that they are going to be just as innovative as yamaha is with their
updates and bug fixes..... such as yamaha has announced on their new OS
the function of using a usb keyboard and numeric pad... they aslo have dedicated
functions for the f1 f2 keys ect....
I did hear someone say that the OS for the MPC5000 was wide open.
so i beleive that the updates that will be coming in furries.
anyway i digress

What is the 5000 got that MV 8000 didnt ? Less sampling time, no vga, less sophisticated chop shop just to name a few...

The MPC 4000 came out in 2002 if I recall correctly. I got several units as soon as they hit the streets. It was unusable. It crashed almost everytime I tried to do anything with it. I sold two units to people on eBay. Both of them threatened to take me to court because it didn't work as advertised.

When the MPC 2000 came out in 1987, the first OS was crap to. It use to freeze up on me all the time until it received a few upgrades.

These are my actual experiences and not something I made up or read in a thread. To make things clear..I am talking about the earlier operating systems and not the current one.

As far as the MPC 5000 versus the MV...simply purchase what you feel will fit your needs. I use an MPC 2500 instead of an MV. Now I want an uber-MPC 2500 which I believe the 5000 is.....

and the slowest work flow i've ever experienced!
I kept mine for 3 years, so I was pretty fluent on it.
I started on OS2 all the way to OS3.52

The MV does not have bad timing. It has a higher ppqn than most MPCs.

The interface is not ugly. It's possibly the closest thing to a DAW you're gonna get in a hardware box. All the functions and proceses are easy to access, considering how many things you can do in this machine. All the buttons are within reach.

Creating a new project from the start screen or from an already loaded project, takes me about 2-3 minutes. Which is unacceptable. This is the MVs biggest downfall. But once the machine loads up, and you realize what its capable of, you'll know why so many people rated it 9 out of 10 on zzounds.com

Plain and simple, the MV has one big flaw which can be overlooked, but it has 1000 pros compared to that one flaw. I bought a 2000xl for the SAME price as the MV, and that shit is just sitting on the stand with a towel over it.

oh yeah, stop using quantize!!!!

When i use the mv i just feel like using an old school computer with a cubase VST.

I'm studying the manual, and my the end of the month I'd better have something to
be bangin on.... but on the good note me and sonar and my fw1884 have been getting

see I wouldnt know that cuz I never had MV, but from the specs list it looks like somewhat stronger machine than the 5k.

what do you mean multi out, multi midi out ? MV got two midi outs.
from what I've seen and read MV can quantinize same way mpc can, people was just using quantanization strength at 100 rather than 35-45
