Australian 2000XL

I am about to purchase a 2000XL from united stated since the australian dollar is pretty good here at the moment. I would like to know if any one here has imported an MPC from US to Aust and does it work with just a socket converter or does the power voltage difference cause problems?

I just had to replace the power cord.
same as a PC power cord.

I think the older models may need a converter box - mpc 60, 3000

You're buying new I assume? There's plenty of 2nd hand 2000xl's going for around $800-1000AUD, some coming with SCSI drives, others with 8 outs and card readers. Just another option I guess.

No unfortunately i cant afford to buy new, so just waiting for a cheap second hand one to come up on ebay. The problem is so few come up on Aust ebay and most go for 1k or so whereas there are always several goin on the US site for several hundered less even after the currency conversion.

Cheers for the responses guys, i am just curious in the difference between the original grey 2kxl and the new MPC version, as in does it still sound the same, play/feel the same?

What you need is to check on what kind of power the MPC runs at, if it's an US model it will probably be : 120 V AC , so if you guys have 220 V AC in Australia (I don't know what kind of power your running over there) like we do in Europe you will need a converter box to convert from 220 to 120. Plus make sure that you buy a converter box which handles the Wattage the MPC runs on, from the top of my head it's 23 W .
If in Australia you also run on 120 V AC then you just need a cable which fits the socket.

Make sure to check all these specs and not blow up the fuse of the MPC.....you know...

and the answer is every 2000xl (including the old school grey ones) has an international power supply automatically switching.

You can run the 2000xl in any country and all you need is the right cord that will fit in the wall.

i got a power converter for mine youve got to check the back where it says the volts some are international but not all

just plug it into a kangaroo mate.

I'm not sure that's true. The MPC I got only says 120V on the back
