Can the mpc...go MP3.listen to my beats on my ipod???

i recently purchased a mpc1000,how can i save my beats in mp3 format?
i already have a few drum kits & samples. the problem i'm having is uploading my finished beats onto my pc. when i try playing the midi. files, it only plays the drums & no samples. it doesn't sound anything like when i play it on the mpc. do i need a specific program to read the files properly or do i need to save my sequences/songs into a different format? what am i doing wrong & how can i save my beats in mp3 format?

you need to 'record' it on your computer.

yea you need some type of audio interface.

If I found out that you can actually convert your beats to wave-format ON the MPC via a neat little trick.

Holla back if you wanna know how, cus I'm have to hook up my MPC1000 and refresh my memory on how it's done.

You can also record the main outs from within the mpc and transfer via usb.

JJ OS2 does this from the song mode, really love that feature.

rinseout: Since there's noice on the output of my MPC, I always have to use the method you mention (I'm using AKAI's OS). BUT I'm considering "upgrading" to the free JJ OS 3.08. Can it also be done in that OS???

Not quite. The advantage with OS2 is that you can set up and record your song without converting it to a new sequence, thus preserving the track mutes.

And definintely upgrade, the 30 bucks for 4.99 are well spent, trust me. (3.08 is fine too, though, but just read the comparison chart). Wether to get OS2, i dont know if i can really recommend it yet. You gotta find out yourself.

Midi is not audio. A midi file doesn't contain any samples/sound. It's only saying when and how to play samples/sounds. The drum sounds you hear on your pc are automatically assigned general midi sounds, but not the originals.

The best way is to record your MPC-song. Connect the audio outputs (jack plugs) to the audio inputs of your computer soundcard. Find an audio editor like Audacity (free), make sure you chose the right inputs in this program. Press record in Audacity and play your MPC-song. Afterwards you can convert this wav-file to MP3 with Audacity.

The MPC1000 can also record its own outputs internally (look in the manual), but you probably will run short on RAM memory if your song is too long and you've got too much samples loaded in RAM. (RAM memory is not the same as memory on your Compact Flash Card)
