Co-sign! I preorder mine with musiciansfriend first week of febuary and still have not received mine. Hearing others saying they got there make me feel like I preorder with the wrong company. $hit I can't wait to get mine.

Well, no MPC is a substitute for the job of the DJ. It does have Turntable inputs, but if you want to cut and scratch it up in conjunction with using the MPC, you'd still need your mixer.

Although with your Q-Links you could rig a way to kinda do it.

I think he means to record a loop for a record into a 5k and the answer is no you don`t need a dj mixer to record just hook it directly to the phono input on back. But if you want to do a live set and whatnot then do as MUSII suggested.

Hello SCD.
I just wanted to second that suggestion. Its an important feature sadly missing on many synths. Although i dont think that "pickup" is the best solution. Ive worked with synths that uses "pickup" and it is sometimes rather confusing in the heat of a live situation. Instead i favor how its done on Quasimidi Polymorph, were they have a knob mode called "relative" which recalculates the knob traveldistance. If, for example, the actual parameter value is 20 but the physical knob is set at 100, then when turning the knob from 100 to 0 the parameter value will smoothly change from 20 to 0. Or if you turn the other way (physical knob from 100-127) the parameter value will smoothly change from 20-127. This works very well in practise.

Another easier solution is like its done on Yamaha RS700: when you hold down shift all knobs are "muted" so you can manually turn the knob to desired positioning before tweaking. Should be very easy to implement.

Well, either of these or pickup modes would be a welcome addition. I hope you can ask for one of these features on "the bug list". Thanks for your dedication!

Hello.

Ive never worked with a MPC but am now considering the 5000. My question is how fast it is to work with. Is it possible to jump in and out of diffrent rec modes (grid, stepedit, realtime etc) while the sequencer is still running? I hate it on the roland boxes where you have to stop before you can enter record mode. And what about other aspects of the machine, can i have the sequencer running at all time or do i have to stop it alot (when editing samples, setting upp pads etc. etc.)? Does it save/load fast, are the menus fast (some machines you have to wait a second or two when shifting pages which kills "the flow" of work)?.
What im looking for is a machine that is as fast as the electribe's but with more features.

Also, scd, can you upload some of those mp3's were you demo the VA synth again? All links are broken. Thanks!
