Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

So I have had mp MPC 500 since Xmas, and generally had no problems with it. I read the manual a few times, but this is something I keep comming across. When I put certain samples into certain pads, the sample is played through more than one pad. For instance: I put a kick into B8, but it also triggers if I hit C8. WTF? Also without hookin it up to my PC via USB, is there any other way to delete just a sample. I have done it before, and I can't remember how. I have looked in my manual, and searched on my DL'd version, and nothing. Thanks 4 help

First off, check in program mode that you haven't already assigned the sample to pad c8 as well by mistake. Also check midi note assign that the same midi note is not triggered by pads B8 and C8.

Secondly, yes you can. Go to save mode, highlight save and scroll till you get the delete option.

Don't forget there is also a wonderful PURGE function in PROGRAM mode. It clears up memory of all unused samples. Just make sure samples you want to purge aren't assigned to any pads.

I Can't figure it out. I add a sample to A6, but it also goes to B12. I go to the MIDI/SYNC function and set the default assign to --:E because I don't want it assigned to any other pad, and the same sound is still triggered in bank A and bank B . How can I delete a sound of just a pad? I.E. , Delete pad B12? I haven't had these problems before.

You don't have to delete a sample from memory, just try going to B12 and unassign it, so that it is assigned to A6 only, and see what happens. If it will be removed from A6 as well, then I'd recommend updating or reinstalling the OS, cause it is the OS that is probably annoying you. By the way, what is the OS version your MPC has? The newest is 1.13. Look how to update your OS in the manual (it should be somewhere in the end).
