i had a 1k with jjos 1 and it was really nice, but when i got the 2500 i felt it just didnt need more. i remeber the big deal with the 1k and jj was that it made the 1k function like a 2500. but auto chop is really nice on the akai os i cant bear between that and os 2.

os2 on the 2500 has auto chop just like Akai os but better, just take a lil time out and get into os2! the non-destructive chopping is great! and the program editor rocks! the only thing that sh#$ts me about it is you cant change tracks while recording! but every thing else is rad!

Beat tips from Le Cream...
Some of you make this music shit a lot harder than it really is. Follow these steps and your production game will increase MONEY BACK GUARANTEED!!

(1) Turn your favorite machine on (at least once in a while..)
(2) Have fun, take your time to learn it..
(3) Occasionally take a break to do certain things like eat dinner and have sex.
(4) Turn the machine off, save your work, and repeat steps 1-3 again.

p.s Also, don't worry about what other people are using, if your music sounds great to you, then you did a good job! :)

You can't change tracks while recording in the JJ OS? I have to double check that. Using the Akai OS, you can change tracks while recording....

jahrome wrote: I am using OS2 like many others around here. Calling it retarded is constructive critisism. Just because we are getting an "unofficial" OS (which we paid for by the way) with increased support, we do not have to turn this forum into a JJ love-fest anymore than the MPC 1000 forum has to turn that respective forum into an Akai love-fest. [...]

Just to clear things up about building up an argument: Calling something 'retarded' is by far not constructive critisism [sic!] without supporting reasons/facts why OS-2 is retarded and also isn't constructive without providing solutions how to improve the OS. Matter of fact it's not even criticism, it's just an irrational assumption based on feelings... and that's not a solid ground to start a debate on anything. The fact that Jahrome drops in with his point about the 'JJ love-fest' vs. 'AKAI love-fest' is just a proof of that irrational thinking!

Now bring some real talk to the table...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_of_the_Moment

let's let it go, that being the thread, the beef, etc

*askia shaheed, you can't change seqs while recording in os2 due to related record/overdub improvements that are several in nature. it's give and take - though i prefer the way it is now, i do forget and try to change seqs sometimes. as a result though i find myself doing more and more editing after converting my seqs to a single song and using loop start/stop points that i define.

this way there's no seq changing involved, you just get the benefits.

I see. Until yesterday, I never tried to change to a different track while recording.

FYI

I wrote this in the MPC 5000 thread:

As of right now, if you have programs/sequences created with the JJ OS2 and try to load them into an MPC 5000, they will not work.
