SWING VS SHIFT TIME??

i AM PROGRAMING DRUMS WITH THE MPC, 4x4 1/16..straight, no swing(50%), kick drum, then I record at the same settings the snare, afterwards I apply 75% on the snare, but when I play back the snare sounds straight with the kick?!?!?!
The only was to start swing is with the shift time , eaRLIER OR LATER AND PUTTING AMOUNTS, ONLY THIS WAY i CAN HEAR THE NOTES CHANGING OUT OF THE BEAT, 1/16 GRID.
WHAT I AM DOING WRONG?

I'm guessing you're applying the "swing" setting to both sounds so they end up sounding like they are in the same vibe. Try recording your kick on "Track 1" with the swing at 50% and then recording the snare in "Track 2" at 75% but applying this setting before recording it.

Yes I didn't tried that, I was doing everything at 50% then I process the snare afterwards.
I went to guitar center yesterday and tried the same thing with the 2,5k, same problem.
It didn't process after recorded only with the shift timing - before/earlier setting, very strange.

here what i am doing,
I am using the 500 but it's very similar of the 2500 of using.

new sequence, select track 1, go in timing correct and on mode+seq edit timing correct and select 50% in 1/16.
record.
then select track 2, I did the same settings with 75%, the snare hits right on top of the kick,,,and I test that in the 2,5 k as well.

i am doing 1/16, straight 4 x 4 beat...to test it out.

I did the same process recording everything at 50% and afterwards process only the pad on track 2 at 75%.

I think that's the problem. If you process a sound after having recorded it the swing won,t be as natural or realistic. I usualy try to avoid processing after I,ve recorded a sound.The other thing is that when you,re in the ''Shift Timig'' , you have to click or hit the pad you want to have modified. If you don't do this it automatically (by default) changes ''all''.

I juuts bounce the midi to a sequencer and yes...everything straight as far as hats at 60% and snare at 75%, the 1/16 setting in cubase show all notes in the bar.

swing dont effect notes that land on the beats, its the notes inbetween the beats it changes. so if you have something on a sixteenth note in the sequence that will change with swing, everything else you need to change with the time shift.

cool man...I believe that's the answer....and from tehere we have 96 spaces to choose 96 ppq....here is why the 960 ppq should be really needed.
shift timing usually is to drastic...it changes a lot the feel...in 96 ppq
