If you're sampling at 192khz 24bit and your making sure your levels are set just before the point of clipping then yes.

Dude, thats what I'm doing at the moment and thats what I'm getting, have a listen to the link in my first post. Just doesn't sound tick enough.

I think you should carry on with your tune for now and worry more about making it sound fuller at mixdown otherwise you might mess with it so much that you either completely arse the beat up or end up get sick of hearing it! It's easy sometimes to dwell on aspects of making a tune for too long especially when you smoke twee like me!

Also if your sampling straight from vinyl, what would you sample your hits as... mono or stereo?

Drums and percuission mono. Flick between left and right to see which carries the best signal for the sound you want to sample.

You wouldn't do it stereo to pick the vinyl pops and cracks for a wider sound?

Just sampled for first time directly from vinyl straight into the MPC. Makes a whole load of difference !!! Sound is so much fatter! I did combine it with a couple of samples that i sampled from the comp and it works really nice!

Most mixers sound like shit. The TTM56i doesn't. The Allen & Heath Xone02 doesn't and my Ecler HAK320 doesn't. They were all top of the line mixers in their day though ($$$)

That's greta that you layered the 909's but I really recommend lowering the volume on those a lil . Seriously the best test you can do is play it on a loud speaker and you'll see if they sound too loud or not.

Exactly that.

i'll sample an mp3 and won't tell u where it came from and u won't even notice that the sample was mp3. the most important thing is gain structure.
