In the past couple of months i have been trying to install the new pad upgrade but have been continually switching back to the old crap pads because of a short somewhere in my 1k that only seems to occur when the new pads are installed, and only very occasionally when the old pads are reinstalled. Yesterday i took my 1k(new pads installed) to a computer repairer who simply took the faceplate and the bottom plate off and gave things a clean by blowing inside the unit with an air compressor.
When i got my 1k home, i turned it on, and there were no more bugs, as before it would jump to bank C or D, the data wheel would only control the screen brightness, and a few other things. So now, in a good mood because things seemed okay, i threw in a cf card, and nothing appeared. WTF? I tried an array of cf cards and still nothing appeared. WTF?WTF?WTF? I felt like i was fkking bipolar due to such a rapid mood change from relief to frustration.
After a few swear words and some deep breaths, i investigated and found that when i go to the load screen while a cf card is inserted, the entire 1k freezes! Everything!
I have tried a local electronics repairer aswell, but they wont touch it, they just look at me like "what the fk is that thing, aw nah, we don't know...."
plus i'm in a pretty rural area and there aint much around here for that sort of stuff.
If anyone has any clues or knows about electronics, PLEASE HELP!!!!

I just want my beautiful 1k to work properly!

LOL
I know this is an old post but have you tried looking inside your card reader to see if any of the pins are bent or broken?
the same thing happened to mine, sure enough,i looked and the 2 of the pins were bent from a friend of mine trying to force his cf card in the wrong way.
