how the flowers effects work?

got the 500 now bout half a year. didnt focused so much on the effects yet. but have a problem. didnt find any solutions in the manual... so is it possible to eq and comp my kicks and snares via the effect func of my 500? is it possible to send diffrent settings of the fx1 to diffrent pads? or is there just one fx1 to one pad? and am i able to set the eq and the comp at the same time?

Tried to figure out this subject by myself since yesterday, cause I wanted to assign different fx's/fx-sets to different pads. And that is not working, as far as I can see.
So you have just one fx-set for the sequence. You can assign this to any pad you want to. You can choose to send the pad to FX1 or to FX2, so in fact you have the option of two different fx in one set.
In your case, you would eq on FX1 send it to FX2 and compress it there (or the other way round). Then it is of course this one FX-Set you have for all of the pads of that sequence.
If there is another solution to use more than one fx-set, I would be glad to hear about it.

had the same experience like embracer had. but for what the flowers i have 16 effect sets? first i thought i can set pad a1 to fx1 set 1, and pad a2 to fx1 set 2, but this aint workin, so for what the flowers is there the effect sets

You can't assign different effects on pads. So, when you chose FX1 to be, say, a reverb, it will be reverb for all pads in this particular effects set. The same is true about FX2. BUT, you CAN:

1) make different effects sets and then insert effect set change messages on a sequencer track, so that effects change while sequence is playing (so, there's not only one effects set for a sequence);
2) combine effects by choosing FX1->FX2
3) re-sample effected sounds
4) combine three options above.

You see, there's a lot you can do to overcome limitations.

1) I know that, but if you switch from a reverb/delay-fx-set to another set, the delay-fx is cut off, when the set is changing. And..all sets are assigned to the same pads anyway. So that is an option for special cases I think.

3) So, thats what I started to do yesterday. Assigning the fx to a pad, recording it while played at full level, reassigning the resampled sound to that pad. And on with the other pads. A bit more work, but it works.

Thank you... Theres ways around the machine... Yeah its alot of steps but the MPC500 can get alot done.

Everyday Im getting closer to my 500, it takes alot of learning but its most def worth it.
