Is there a difference in sound quality on a Dubplate?

I was going to get a dubplate made of some drum sounds and breakbeats so I can use them to get that vinyl sound for all my drums. I was just wondering if the sound quality of a dubplate is the same as a vinyl? Will i get the same type of sound and that vinyl noise?

Dubplates vs. Vinyl.

Dubplates are made out of acetate. Vinyl records are made out of pressed vinyl. Dubplates are produced for quality control and test marketing and are made out of acetate because they're much less expensive to produce. The thing about a dubplate is that it has a lifespan of about 50-60 plays. They start off sounding clean, but not quite like vinyl. Then, the more you play them, the grittier and dirtier they sound. Since they wear much faster than vinyl, you can have fun playing them until they get gritty enough for your liking.

would these only last for that many plays as well? It says they are one-off records. I want them to sound gritty but I dont want to much noise so they just sound like crap. Would this be worth buying or is it not even worth it?

its not even worth it. get creative with eq and sampling noise and crackles n stuff

U really think it wont be worth it? I think it will. Even if i sample crackles it still doesnt sound like its off a record.. Im going to test it out and see how it sounds. Its only 50 bucks so its worth a shot.

A one-off record is just another name for a dubplate. One-offs, dubplates, etc. are all made of acetate and all have short lifespans. The rule of the duplate is that the more you play it, the grittier it gets.

Some dj's play nothing but their own dubplates because they prefer the grittier sound. So, it's all up to you if it's worth it or not. If it's only $50 why not give ONE a try and see what you think? It's a pretty inexpensive learning curve.

I checked out the site, and I think it would be great to put something of your own on vinyl. But it seems like even a dub plate will cost at least $80. Let us know if you do it.

I did it. I sent the wav tracks and now im just waiting to hear back from them. I let you know how it works out
