The dollar is almost at an all time low in Japan. Back in 1994/1995 (I believe) it was as low as 90 yen to the dollar. COLA was the sh!t then! Anyway...I plan on getting the Fantom G as soon as I get to Japan in 3 wks...

Blue Haze..is that you in your Avatar?

Dude is a multi-grammy producer from Trey Songs, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and a gang of others just he doesn`t get all the shine like the others. He is mainly R&B.

You had the pic of for awhile. I thought it was you in your studio. The spot looks nice. I want to set my new place up like that.

Just for information.....today, I tried creating some Battery 3 drum programs in my MPC 5000. I saved the program in MPC 5000 format was well as MPC 1000 format. The MPC 5000 format program (program only...not samples) appears to be 10x larger than the 1000 format.

I am really liking the copy/move functions is the DISK MENU. It is so easy to move a file/folder from one drive to another. Ex., moving a drum kit from the CF card to the hard drive...or copying a drum kit from the CD Drive and pasting it to the MPC 5000s hard drive.

However, I still wish Akai improves upon the way the MPC loads files. There should be a way to select multiple files to load. Something like a Ctrl select option or a method to check all the items you want to load. Currently, you can only load one file or folder at a time.

On a completely different subject....The MPC 5000 dedicates 2.3 MBs of the installed RAM to the sequencer.

Yeah I kept the pic to show it is the man not the machine. I wish I had his skills. In the pic he is working in one of those nice L.A. studios the series shows his daily schedule flying in from Atlanta he interned with Jermanie Dupri.

This is all very interesting but can the peeps with the 5000 get back to giving us an insight into how the machine is holding up under close scrutiny?

I have been doing that. I created a bug thread as well as answered most of the questions asked. I plan on spending several hours today on the MPC 5000. Is there anything you want me to test out today?

It's appreciated that you've contributed a lot of information man.

Specifics are always nice, but I was just wondering in general terms if you are pleased with your purchase? Are the synth and effects 'pro' in your opinion? Also when are we gonna hear what you've been doing on it??! :D

Why would I actually do music with this machine

But for real...you may never hear me do music or maybe you will. I basically do it for my own personal enjoyment.

Overall, I am happy with the unit but I always want more. I think Akai can really take this product to another level if they choose. With Numark, Alesis, and Akai technology..they can truly make an awesome MPC that could satisfy all users.

I am no expect on synths and effects so I am not sure if my opinion will matter that much. But they are better than MPC 2500. SCD posted links to his tracks created with effects and the synth. I would check those out.

I think I may have heard those and they sounded promising.

The problem I have living where I do is that all the music hardware shops have closed down recently, so I have nowhere within easy driving distance to go and get my hands on it.

I think combined with a decent computer it should make a real nice combination. I'm so used to having top notch mastering software and things like convolution reverbs that I couldn't do without a pc now. I still want the 5K though as it looks like it means business!

Yeah, I agree wit you on this function... it is pretty nice... I was thinking it might be a CTRL button on the MPC (Just like the tricks in Pro Tools) that way I could copy a lot of files at once time that werent in a folder to another place.
