Anyone here up/downgrading to the 5000?

For me, the 5000 is a big downgrade.
IDK WTF Akai Slo was thinking.
Ok I do know, but you know what I mean.

would rather pay £100 for a software upgrade, to include better fx, simultaneous mode, 16 levels of decay etc.

Sell the 4k after spending freaking hours mastering it???
to go backwards ?
nope.

sequencers the main thing 4 me though.
So I am happy with the 4k.

there isn't really anything that can compete with the 4000 in my eyes unless your not looking for some of the features it has as far as sampling goes.

well I dont know how to use my mpc4000 but im not getting the 5000...

I'm still on the look out for 4000, I dont miss the 2500 that much either

I will defentaly look for another 4k if nothing better comes along in the next 2 years, just for spare parts its going to be in my studio for a long long time .. The MPC5000 I could see me getting mainly to go out and play live ... the 4ks element is studio use..

I agree that the MPC 4000 is a nice machine regardless of some of the issues that has been reported in the forums over the years.

As far as the new MPC 5000, it really is an amazing machine that is enjoyable to use. I look forward to what Akai enhancements Akai will make to the operating systems over the next year or so.....

I'll save my 4000 forever. This machine is simply the best piece of gear I've worked with.

No way I'll trade it for a 5000. The white 4000 is good-looking, the 5000 isn't.

At this point I wouldn`t downgrade to anything as I am very fluent with my 4k. In addition, I have learned to expand my workflow incorporating my 4k with software instruments so I get the great sequencing and ease of my 4k, plus the sound libraries and sound designing patchwork of software instruments the best of both worlds. Far outweigh any mpc on the market including the 5k. Of course any mpc working as a main sequencer can do this, but we all know that the 4k is the only mpc so far that can do multis aka combos laying with crossfading within keygroups in standalone which is great for stage/live work.

However with all of that said and done it is up to the user and what he or she feels comfortable with using. I love that I have great ease with the 4k but I love the fact that I can also work very comfortable incorporating it with the lastest software with some of the great synth programming and huge sample banks of sounds. It all boils down to your SAMPLES period.

I would never switch. You would expect the 5000 to have all of the characteristics of the 4K and much more but it's not the case. Backwards compatibility went straight out the window. 4K 4life.
