tracking into daw audio/midi (recording seperate tracks)

Ok i basically understand 95% of how all this works theres just one part that KEEPS BUGGING ME!, okay so i have all my midi cables set up in and out, i set the settings on the mpc and then on the daw. then i take the audio cables and connect the audio outs in to the midi interface. this is the part where im confused, my recording programs picks up the midi work i did on the mpc when i played which notes and how. but how those the actual audio bit get attached to those notes? which are now transfered on my computer? can some one please tell me the termenology of how the sound gets assisgned to the midi notes after the midi notes are sent.? i know the audio outs of the mpc is where the sound will transfer to into the interface and then what through the usb cable into the computer? i dont think so.. ( if anyones confused from what i mean please say so so i can re explain).

one way of tracking i tried was recording the stero signal through my mic like of my laptop as a audio track , one track by one by playing each track solo do only problem with that was the mpc wasn't synced with my computer so my swing of the beat got thrown of really bad..

pleaes guys this is the last step of what i need for me to be able to complete my beats iv tried the search function iv watched the youtube video but cant seem to get that specific detail on my situation.. anyone who can tell me will really make my day.. more like my year im desperrate please any info!

did you try setting up your metrenome and setting the tempo on your rec software and mpc? try that. you dont need midi for that. just set the tempo's the same for both and turn your metrenome on on the cpu. just try to catch it on beat each track. give the metrenome a 1 bar go before you hit that play button on the mpc.

as far as the first, yea im confused. i could never catch on the recording midi. thats what forced me to get the 8out. but eventually it just made me lazy so i haven tried recording midi for some years now. your connections are right. do you have the tracks set up correctly? you outta get you some books or some downloads around here. there's plenty of shit around here that could help you out.

I tried that but there seemed to be a bit of lag even though, still didnt manage to get the same swing that i had while recording it on the mpc. btw can you do this procedure with all types of midi interfaces kus i have a M-audio fast track pro with just my stero out as the only audio going through the interface is that right to?

If all you're trying to do is to capture what's coming from the mpc, then why not try slaving it via midi time code or clock from your daw.

This way you can arm a (stereo) audio track and record it just the way it's played from the mpc.

Also, if you have multiple 1/4" outputs from the mpc, and you have a mixer/soundcard to accomodate those outputs, then you can record each channel/track individually.

Midi seems complicated when you first start dealing with it but it's really simple. Check out Tweakheadzlab.com and go through the midi lesson. You should be able to solve your problem after the lesson. (Book mark it, Very valuable info there)
When asking questions like that, it's always good to list the gear you're having trouble with. Maybe somebody has the sam and can give you detailed instructions. But with what info you gave one can only guess.

see this is what i want to figure out to do but im a little confused about the multiple 1/4" part, i have a mpc 1000 and a m-audio fast track pro and trying to record into abelton live. I have read the tweaks guide on midi but im still confused about how the audio gets registered into my recording program after setting midi.. so if anyone can please explain how to connect the audio from the mpc to the interface to my computer and i guess il figure the rest on live please anyone???

one end of 1/4-inch jack cable into mpc "assignable mix out 1" on the mpc, other end to line level input 1 on the sound card. repeat for 2, 3, and 4.

On the MPC you need to select which sounds you are going to send from each of the 4 assignable mix outs. e.g. kick out on 1, snare out on 2. here's how to do it, from the manual:

01. In the MIXER mode, press the [F2] (L/OUT) key.
The Level/OUT page will be displayed.
Each column indicates pad 1 though 16 from the left and the currently selected pad is highlighted. The
display at the top is the field, where you make a setting to send the pad sound to the assignable outputs.
02. Hit the desired pad.
The column for the selected pad will be highlighted.
03. Press the up cursor key.
The Out field to set the output will be selected. You can change the setting by turning the DATA wheel.

beach break thanks for clearing that out for me i had no idea about setting the audio send on the mpc nice, just a quicky though after setting hte midi settings on my recording program its not like i have to set the audio at the comptuer end of things is it?
