Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Here's a noodle scratcher - Did a search but didn't find anyone with same issue. Please Help.

I finally got away from external Zip now that all of my Zipdisks have now been corrupted and I can't access any of my old sounds now. So I installed the MCD in place of the floppy drive and things seemed lovely until this.

I've created a few new programs in MPC PGM Maker running on Mac 10.4.11. and saved them to my CF card. In the Mac browser I can see a new folder for each program that includes the new .pgm file along with all associated .wav files. Problem is when I eject the card from Mac and load into MPC, The name of the new folder appears, but not as an actual folder (no folder icon - looks like this. - foldername .xxx [x= blank space])

At first I thought it could be because of a subfolder limitation with the MPC2kxl (is there one?) But I moved my new program folder to the root directory instead to see if that would work, but no dice here either. Any suggestions? Would love to get back to work soon. Thanks.

Extra Info - In MPC PGM Maker I have selected to rename 8+character names (most are already 8 or less beforehand anyway). I also have new folder / samples buttons selected (puts pgm and wav files in same folder). MPC 2000xl format / wave is selected.

CF card is formatted as FAT16. Drive and Card seem to both work fine - I can make and save pgms on the MPC just fine. Problem only comes when importing from MPC PGM Maker.

If you formatted it in fat 16 using the mac that could be your issue. I've never had any luck getting mpcpgm maker to work using a card formated on the mac. When I format the card using the mpc then transfer the pgm files from mpcpgm maker it works flawless.

Well - I didn't actually format the card myself. It came pre-formatted with some sounds/kits already on it - came free when I bought the card reader from VST. It looks like It may have been formatted on MPC or PC Already - Can't say for sure, but
On the MPC load screen, the card says "type=PC". In the Mac Browser The card says "Format: MS-DOS File System(FAT16)". Does this help? Is there a way to check if CF Card was originally formatted on MPC or on Mac/PC - outside of what I've looked at here? Don't want to re-format the card unnecessarily if it may be in right format already.

Another point of interest that may help sort this out, is that today I tried doing away with the new program folder entirely, and copied all contents of that folder to the Main ROOT Folder on the card. This allowed me to open up the program with no problems, but I do not want to store all sounds/pgms in the one ROOT Folder - I need some subfolders to keep things organized. I've read that Folders / Subfolders are supported by 2KXL file system - The card that came the MCD drive has sub-folders containing PGM/WAV files - and they open just fine. Cant seem to get my MPC PGM Maker folders to work like this though. Any ideas? Thanks for any help with this fellas. Peace.
