Why does every one talk bad about the ASR 10 sequencer???

Why is everyone saying the ASR 10/EPS 16+ has a flawed Sequencer??

To m it's almost a good as the MPC Sequencer,plus the sampler and effects
on the ASR /EPS, BLOW THE MPC 3000 AWAY!!!

The MPC sample is Flat and Pale??

The The ASR/EPS 16+ is Warm and lively??

You just have to learn the sequencer,just like other pice of Gear

It IS a good sampler. It's old but It's still good. I use my ASR more than my triton.

Well, thats your opinion.See i made beats with a Kawai Q80, and i could say that to me the Q80 sequencer is just as good as the mpc seq.But dont play yourself, the mpc sequencers strength is the ease of use.Its a breaze to work on the mpc.You can make the same sequences on the Q80 and the ASR/EPS but you have to put way more effort in it.

I used the mp7 as a master, then i switched to the mpc, i dont know if its just me, but when i bang out drums on the mpc, it even feels tighter. More complete

Few hardware sequencers can hold a candle to the MPC sequencer.

My 1988 MPC 60 can hold 99 sequences with 99 tracks and 20 songs, with 4 midi outs to control 64 external midi channels.

Even some new gear can't touch that.

Can't speak about the ASR-10, since I've never used one. I used to have an ASR-X though and didn't like it.

Sure, resampling worked great, but the sequencer wasn't hot at all. If you changed fx parameters while playing it would start stuttering and lose timing. Seemed like an interrupt handling problem in the OS.

But if the ASR-10 sequencer works for you then it's all good.

not in the case with the ASR-X.. it's the equipment. I would make a beat, and sometimes even without changing parameters, it would mess the loop up. The sequencer is 'warm doo-doo garbage' and the pan knobs on al o f em are glitchy. The ASR-10 may be different, but I've never used that one. The effects on the ASR-X are good tho.. you can change any and every parameter imaginable. As far as sampling goes, it gets an 8, sequencer gets a 0. If the X had digital inputs/outputs, and faster SCSI, it would be the shiznit

I had a ASR X Pro (red one) back in Jan 2001. I sold it and bought an XL. I missed the stomper software in the ASR X PRO and the internal sounds but that was it. The interface was jacked up. Sequencer on ASR10 has been good to me so I can't or never will complain.

ive used the triton sequencer, mp7, and mpc.

Hands down the mpc is the best. If you compare specs, they all have alot of the same features, but I agree with sktchman. ITs all about the effort you have to put in.

I guess what works for you is good.

i cant imagine another hardware sequencer being better than the mPC......if you need better, you'd hafta go software but you'd lose the ease of use.......

The only sequencer I've seen in HARDWARE that looks/performs/features/layout that even closely touches the mpc is the Kurzweil k2600. The MPC is the BMW of sequencers, nothing touches it. The kurzweil might be a top of the line rare volkswagen specimen with similar performance, but... the mpc is the bimmer hands down!

I rocked a MPC2000xl for about 3 years, and had EPS 16+ midi'd up to it. I never **** with the EPS's sequencer....why would I? The mpc's is the bomb. Then I sold MY EPS-16+ and got a ASR-10. I didnt have the 16+ for too long so what I did was I totally unhooked my MPC so I would focus just on the ASR-10 so id learn it inside out. Well I hated that **** sequencer....with a passion. But i stuck with it. Well its been about 6 months and my MPC had a shit load of dust on it. I actually SOLD my mpc. The sound is uncomparable. As for the sequencer..the ASR's is as easy and just as good. People need to stop bitching about their equipment and put some work into them. The ONLY down fall to the ASR-10 sequencer is that its only 16 tracks....then you have to start bumpin. People always talk about the "swing" swing that makes it sound like a really drummer played it. Well **** a really drummer uses a stick and hits a skin, his timing makes the "swing". You can do the same by practicing your programming and hitting the pad/key with some swing. Keep that quantize off and practice. Plus chop your samples right.

I got a MPC60 OG coming in the mail as we speak..I cant wait to hear its sound.
