Feature request:

Note-off samples

--

Don't know if that's a proper description, but I'd like to be able to assign two separate samples to pads -- one for when you press the pad, and one for when you let go. You press the pad to trigger one sample, and when you release the pad another one triggers.

You could use it for a lot of things

One thing you could do is if you have some guitar chord samples, you could have a sample of string noise from your hand moving on the fretboard. So when you move between chords it would sound like a guitarist is actually moving his/her hand.

a new little box with a simple parameter change available for compressor in the fx section please:

"insert on/off" : meaning, to use it as insert effect, or regular effect.

if the insert was set to "off" there would be the familiar "effect level" control, like there is in delay and reverb..
"on" would leave it as it is currently.

with this simple change, we could have a massively powerful parallel or 'new york' compression right outta the mpc!

also, it would be nice to be able to set the compressor's outputs if its in this parallel mode..

cheers!

in track mute window:

hold shift and press several pads to mute tracks, but they all mute / unmute at the same time when you release shift button.

have found this very handy in live situation when using elektron machinedrum which has this. you can hold shift for some time and do something else with other hand until you feel it's time for change ;)

in song mode, it would be so incredibly helpful if the sequence list scrolled upward instead of the indicator bar scrolling down as the song steps progress. this way you can see the next sequence that is going to be playing. currently the indicator bar scrolls down and after it has gotten to the 4th step, you can't see what the next sequence will be.

is there any way we can get a sticky to show feature requests for specific OS's ie: OS2 requests are probably getting mixed in with OS1 requests etc.... i doubt there'll be any further mods to OS1, so why not start a fresh sticky just for OS2?

In the Mute Tracks Screen i'd like to have F3, F4 buttons dedicated to TR- and TR+ respectively added.

and maybe a thick outline to the cell of the "active" track, so we can move up/down track numbers - clearly seeing which track is the active one, without ever leaving the track mutes screen, and still be able to tweak tracks that may have qlinks attached etc...

MODE+PAD7 = PROGRAM , F6= OUT/FX,

when using in "track mixer" i cannot change tracks to compare values,
it would be very useful to be able to move the cursor to the "TRACK ## MIXER" area to scroll up/down the track numbers to change things or compare different tracks' out settings without leaving this screen.

How possible would this be?

in TRIM MODE, hold shift + hit a pad, the sample is chosen according to the pad#.

ive thought of a few things while using OS2, very enjoyable btw, but since there's supposed to be some further development.....here goes:

as with track mutes, (or the program and its pad/sample assignments), you always have the cells 4x4 layed out on screen, but what if there was a new function that could assign to any pad (on the fly) one of a set of 'scripts',

with say a list of possible 'script' functions like : 'fade out', 'fade in', or 'flip order', or 'repeat:8th/16th/32nd' ....'quant:8th/16th/32nd' .... 'mono/poly' .... 'voice limit:1,2,3,4..off' ..... 'transpose:-/+ xx' .... 'punch:in/out:1/1,1/2,1/4,1/8,1/16,1/32'..... etc

and these functions would apply to the track data as its played back live, so its kind of a live manipulation tool.

thats the basic idea - how it would work (for me - so far) would be :-

1 - in track mute page : hold a special Fkey or other quick combo - like numeric or shift or shift+note rep... (but an Fkey would make most sense)

2 - all the cells would now display - not the tracks - but one of the above function options for each of the pad/tracks, and touching a pad would let you change that pads function - where a data wheel turn would scroll though the list of functions (only that one pad/track) so each cell/pad/track will have the appropriate function that you want, and could change as the tracks are active/ not active whatever....and basically get really productive in terms of accessing data - changing it to arrange more than a few mutes as you go.

3 - quick release Fkey assigned to disabling all or one of these functions (probably same Fkey as the activating one), or hold the Fkey while touching pads to individually switch the functions on or off live.

id really love this, i think simult mutes are cool.

hey arebee, i like your idea. i think it would be worth working out the specifications a bit more before submitting it to JJ (might be good to get a native japanese speaker to translate an idea this complex, tho!).

1 - in track mute page : hold a special Fkey or other quick combo - like numeric or shift or shift+note rep... (but an Fkey would make most sense)

how about just another press of the "track mute" key instead? say you're in the MAIN screen. press the "track mute" key once to get to the TRACK MUTE page, then press it again to get to this new page you propose (TRACK FUNCTION?). subsequent key presses will toggle between TRACK MUTE & TRACK FUNCTION.

a list of possible 'script' functions like : 'fade out', 'fade in', or 'flip order', or 'repeat:8th/16th/32nd' ....'quant:8th/16th/32nd' .... 'mono/poly' .... 'voice limit:1,2,3,4..off' ..... 'transpose:-/+ xx' .... 'punch:in/out:1/1,1/2,1/4,1/8,1/16,1/32'..... etc

i'm a little unclear as to how some of these would function. would each function be a binary state? for example, assuming you picked the 'fade out' function: would you hit the pad once to fade out then hit it again to fade back in? that's easy enough but how would this work with the other functions like repeat, quant, voice limit, transpose, etc? also, could you explain more what the 'flip order' & 'punch in/out' functions would do?

also, as an extension of your idea: i would like to see this exact same concept applied to the '16 levels' key. press the key once to get to the normal '16 LEVELS' screen, press it again to get to a new '16 FUNCTIONS' screen. you would have the same 4x4 cell display as in your TRACK FUNCTIONS page that you could fill with functions but the difference is they would all only apply to the currently selected track in the MAIN page. you could have 16 functions sitting there loaded up & switch them on/off on the fly + have multiple functions active at once. very powerful for live use.

this whole thing really should be do-able, programming wise. it's not proposing anything that you can't already do with the MPC, it's just a whole different way of presenting it in an interface that puts everything right under your fingertips for instant control. it eliminates the delay of having to bop around to a bunch of different screens to find the function you're looking for. the key is finding what the MPC can & can't do while the sequencer is running.
