Newbie question and hello!!!

Am new round here so hello first and foremost. In other news I am having a few problems with my MPC2000 and my zip drive.

I broke my original Zip drive and now have a new one but when I ask the MPC to load something from the zip drive I get a message that says 'wait...' and never goes. They are obviously not talking but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to why? Your help would be much appreciated.

I cant wait to fire it up again and its driving me up the wall.

If your previous zip drive broke down and and you have replaced it with a new one, then the assumption will be:

- new working zip drive is scsi (has 2 switches. termination and scsi id) and in working)
- scsi id set to 5
- termination set to ON.

- Check your scsi cable. make sure the ends are SECURELY fastened.
- Check your disk. may be corrupt. try another disk. Rule out the disk.
- With all equipment connected, MPC should be last equipment to power ON.
- Also do not remove any equipment while MPC is still ON. Could blow scsi port fuse.

The first suspicion is the scsi cable and worst case scenario . . . the scsi port fuse.

No switches on the Zip Drive. Checked that one.
How do you change scsi id?
termination?? where is this. first tiume i switched it on in about three years. felt so nice though.

cable seems fine and was secure.
tried many disks. will try powering mpc last but i have a feeling i did that.

there is your problem.

you say there are no switches.

a scsi zip drive has 2 swithces between the ports at the rear of the drive. one switch says scsi id (5 or 6) and the other switch is termination (on or off).

The MPC says wait because you have the wrong zip drive connected.
