live is simple, just give it some time, like solid day. flip thru the manual to get the idea how basics work. so you can start working with it and then you'll pick up other thing as you go.

before I got live I was struggling with cubase, there was too much technical shit in that software for me to even focus on getting the basics down. on way back from GC I read thru few pages of manual and had a groove going after couple hours with it.

still not that deep in it since I been going back and forth to MPC, but I can knock out a beat in live with no sweat now. and process creating a track in live is real smooth.

i intend to use live as a live looping software for my live shows, ala this video of kid beyond, a beatboxer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8mlSWWZ9zQ

of course, my setup would be more mechanical:

a laptop with Ableton and Reaper rewired
jjos2
turntable controller with djdecks software
microphone
eventually a banjo

i'd trigger/record loops, both preprogrammed ones and live pad performance

i reallly want to do more live performance. from the looks of kid beyond's video, Live is the appropriate application for the job. from your experiences, how realistic is this vision?

sub the tt controller for a novation controller and swap the banjo for a tb303 and you have pretty much the live setup we use....we dont resample when its playing though as we generally have our hands full with the other kit and you really dont want to be left standing in front of a large crowd scratching your head when it all fecks up,however ,live is solid and fun to play around with, download the free (almost fully functioning )trial and see if it works for you...http://www.ableton.com/live

I use Ableton Live 7 for all of my loop based needs.

Amazing chopping features and good fun with Midi controllers. And amazing DAW at what it does, faster and much more efffectively then all the others.

Quantizing songs with it is also amazing to produce mixable edits.

www.myspace.com/diizymusic is all ableton at the moment.

anyone able to sync their mpc1000 to live 7? i've been following satayo's instructions, but the mpc1000's sync options are different than in the tutorial, i'm not sure if it's sending mmc.

i've got it set up the way satayo described, but i'm not getting any feedback on the screen showing that it's receiving any midi messages, so i must have gone wrong somewhere. anyone able to get this to work?
