Hi everybody, I may not be the first to post on this, but still...
There's a way to detour this "insert before" bug in the song mode (well, I wish Akai fixed it, of course):
1) Make a 1 bar-long empty sequence before you start building a song
2) Assign this sequence to the first step in the new song
3) Now it is possible to use insert before (when it is needed)
Note: using "insert before" at the final step of a song (where you can see "end of song" to the right of the step number) DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE BUG for whatever reason! Maybe that could be the clue to fixing this bug, who knows...
4) After making the song (whether "insert before" was used or not), just erase the first step. Voila!
I also noticed that it is not possible to convert the song to sequence once the "insert before" function was used and activated the bug. OS reports "File not found!!!" when attempt to convert the song to a sequence is made.
Pros: "insert before" CAN be used!!!
Cons: song preview is impossible this way, as it won't play back after using "insert before". But you can always delete the first step, listen to the song, and then just repeat the process by inserting the empty sequence in the beginning, if necessary.
And anyway, it is always a good idea to jot down a draft structure of the song before programming it in the song mode. So, this bug doesn't critically affect the workflow. It just makes it a couple of minutes longer, that's all )))
2 All: I have an idea, let's compile a troubleshooting instruction set, where there would be a list of bugs on the left and info on how to deal with these bugs on the right? Plz contribute your ways of debugging the workflow.
Peace!
