MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I'm trying to get my drums and samples onto my 5000. However, it seems i'm getting an "Error, incorrect format" (or similar message) when i try to load/play many of them. When i cut most of my drums, I saved them with Adobe Audition but it gives you 2 or 3 different types of .wav types to choose from. Is this what makes a difference, because i've noticed that in some of my folders, maybe one or two drums will load and the rest will error. Perhaps if i saved them in one of the other wav types, they would work?

The MPCEditor programs don't seem to be helping, and in some cases even with drums loading properly, when i set them to autoload upon startup, they dont play. when i go into Program mode and press the pad, a question mark shows in front of the drum/sample name and if i scroll to another file, when i scroll back, the pad is now empty. I'm guessing I should be saving them as a wav type that will work with the mpc...?

A/mu-Law Wav

ACM Waveform Wav

DVI/IMA ADPCM Wav

Microsoft ADPCM Wav

Windows PCM [.wav, .bwf]

Those are all the types that Audition gives you to choose when saving. Do those play a role in whether or not the MPC will be able to read them?

??? if you know of any programs that CAN convert them to the proper format for the MPC5k, or create programs for it, that would be great.

Yeah, what he said, and also you can use MPC Bluebox for the MPC 1000, you can set your programs up in there better for the 5000

Try opening them back up in adobe and save again to windows PCM .wav Otherwise Awave studio should be able to convert them unless the files are corrupt.

Yeah, you gotta go back to adobe and convert them into pcm .wav format, but once you get them converted( Convert them to CD Quality "44.1khz and 16bit" or "48khz and 24bits" The MPC 5000 will read both, but preferably do the CD Quality) you can set the sound programs up in the bluebox, unless you feel like taking the time out to set them up one by one in your 5000 manually.
