Just bought the $29.99 Kingston ram mentioned in the previous post! No Problems at all when installed on a Brand New MPC 1000!!!

Same here for the 2500, bought through Amazon.co.uk

Sony CF 133x20MB/s 2GB, works well, without any problems

also trying Toshiba SODIMM 64MB Ram, but don't remember exact name

Thanx to everyone who helped about the specs on the RAM for the mpc1000/2500 and who gave information about the substitute for the exm128 akai is whack for trying to charge soooo muuucchhhhhh!!! Thanx, Peace

I know I haven't posted here much but I thought I'd share this. I bought RAM on Ebay for $8.99 and 4.99 shipping. If you're looking cheap it's a hell of a deal.

Also got a 4 gb CF card from TigerDirect for $19.99. It is the A Data Speedy Compact Flash card.

So the RAM and 4 gb card for less than $35.

I have this ram: Kingston kvr133x64sc3/256 working just fine!

And this CF: Sandisk Ultra II 2.0GB working fine too!!

I know that you cant get 256mb of RAM by putting a 512mb stick in your MPC, but if you put a 512mb stick in your MPC would it work to give you 128mb?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a friend who can give me a really good price on a 512mb stick, I checked and its the type of RAM I need (133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM) and it would be cheaper for me to buy it from my friend then going out and buying a 256mb stick. Is it safe to put this 512mb stick in my MPC, or will I mess something up?

^^^ go with 256mb. 512mb won't work at all, from what i remember reading.

Hi everyone, first post...Really sorry if this has been answered before but im getting my mpc1000 tommorow and im looking at RAM on ebay instead of going for the akai £88 one. Just wondering if the density of the RAM matters? found some RAM that matches the spec perfectly but its high density RAM...Should I be after low density or doesnt it matter??
Also, Im new into these mpc's but has the pad problem been sorted now that ive heard so much about? the one Im buying (brand new) says that it is the new version? does this mean it has the good pads or bad ones?
Really sorry if these are stupid questions but if Im honest Im just crapping myself about spending so much money just to either mess it up with the wrong RAM or have the pads give up on me within a few weeks.

Im from UK and have gone with the one above, I only had a quick look on the US one so you may be able to find it cheaper if you hunt around but the important thing is that its KINGSTON KVR133X64SC3/256 laptop RAM. Like I said, Ive been threw this thread and a lot of people have said theyve got this RAM and it works fine.

OK, I can't find a straight answer to this, but the MPC can read more than 2gb now due to the updated OS architecture right? anyone know what the max is? Having a 32gb CF card would be key
