narkotiq wrote:so akai jp went bankrupt.

jj stopped working on all mpcs os because of no pay.

akai usa took over and told jj to carry on his work.

akai usa didnt pay jj for the work he put in.

jj stopped working for akai usa.

is this the way it has panned out?

where does this leave us jj os users?

>> I think that sums it up well. Besides the Fact that JJ (Hasegawa) was an assistant to Hayashi. The AKAI guy blamed Hayashi for stealing the code; he or him and his team wrote it and didn't get paid, so it's technically still his/theirs. So you can't blame Hayashi, if JJ went on to develop his own OS. As it looks, AKAI didn't want or couldn't pay them on one hand. On the other hand AKAI tried to get the MPC1k and 2500 on the market quickly with an unfinished OS. The huge numbers of remaining bugs as Hayashi mentions indicate just that.
To us JJ OS users that's the best thing that could happen: Imagine AKAI could have had the control over the OS - we would have probably never even seen Grid Edit, MTC and all the other great additions (over all there about 40 of em) especially on the MPC1k. If it wasn't for JJ, why there hasn't been a major OS update released by AKAI including entirely new features. I bet Hayashi and JJ aren't the only good OS programmers in the world who are capable of programming an AKAI OS, are they??!! If AKAI would have had an interest in exploring the full potential of the MPC 1k and 2500, they already could have added more features, but they didn't. Why? I guess marketing strategies. So therefore: "I'm rollin' with JJ!"

First of all, how can someone "add bugs"? If they have any quality control, no programmer can simply screw up the code for a system, deliberately or not. You will catch serious errors before the units leave the company.

If JJ was simply releasing code AKAI wanted to implement, why didn't they do so themselves? That way they could have cut off JJ's efforts straight away.

And why the hell would legal actions hurt the customers? I smell BS here.

co-sign.

I personally don't care what happened. I know that I purchased a great machine that JJ made better. Whether or not JJ or AKAI is at fault is not my concern. I buy a lot of products that could have been better and I have to deal with it every day. i.e. a better fridge, a better washer, dryer, a better air conditioner and most importantly defective cars: brakes, seat belts and the like. (remember FORD a few years ago with the tire issues and the rolling over of SUVs during flats while driving?) But only when some one gets seriously hurt will that company have a recall. How many does it take to get hurt before the recall is different for each item mentioned but there won't be a recall until the company is FORCED to make that recall.

I'm not rolling with JJ!

I want Akai to support their products (MPC500) like they should, I paid good money for it.

[So therefore: [b]"I'm rollin' with JJ!"

I'm with you Stan.

Thanks JJ.

Does anyone know the date of when JJ's first OS hit the street? if so, we MPC users should hail that day a holiday and celebrate that occasion.

Anyone agree?????

Now they are pissed off when 3rd party coder does a succesfull and maybe most stable os in any mpc ever and they start to put bad rumors about them (jj)

Are you serious? Did you read all the other posts? JJ is not really a third party, he was one of the origanal programmers for the 1k you retard. Therefore nobody knows the 1k better than him and Hayashi

yes, they are 3rd parties.
"jjos" was conceived well after the folks in question were no longer on akai's payroll.

don't get it twisted, i mean i'm down with jj no problem. fuk akai.

its just at the end of the statement where hayashi says that he will have nothing more to do with the mpc series, that had got me and a few other folk worried.

but i suppose all we can do now is wait and see what happens, if there is any developments regarding this or not. i don't think it would make a difference anyway.

stan steez, i'ma just say on behalf of myself and all other jj os users on this forum, i think its dope as fuk that you actually chased this matter up and got some answers, props dude, your work on the whole jj movement has surpassed most peoples on here. truly - thanks.

peace bruh.

Thanks for the compliment, bro! But I didn't really do so much on that matter. I just sent Murai an email and asked him what's up with these accusations and he just sent me theese two mails back I posted here! The cool side-effect of it: it added the missing pieces to the puzzle, who's JJ and what enabled him to create this beautiful OS and also why AKAI sucks to the max. At least, if any Information I got can be considered as true...

Now some final thoughts: I honestly don't understand why some cats blame JJ for AKAIs bad support for the MPC 500 after all that's been known by now?! It has nothing to do with JJ, as we've learned, that's just the way, AKAI treats their customers. MPC 1k and 2500 owners have been thru the same. AKAI stands for selling MPC's in every price niche of the market, whereas JJ stands for real support in bug fixing and fulfilling feature requests if technically possible. Since he/they didn't get paid by AKAI, unfortunately we got to do it. This machine is our Tool for blessing the world with music - and the OS is the heart of the it. It's a shame they didn't pay the man right. But what would be the best MPC out there without a good OS? Nothing! So, I hope JJ comes up with a MPC 500 version for you guys, too. I guess if he really worked with that Hayashi guy, then he probably knows everything about building an OS. I think by now, the problem might be manpower. If he is all on his own and would have to take care of all OS versions (six by now, of which 2 - the free versions are possibly final), getting all these OSes Bug free, is a hell of a job, I can imagine.

PEACE

Can someone explain to me why the words from the USA are taken as false and the words from Japan are believed to be true? :?:

There is no JJ O.S. for the MPC500, so I don't think betting on JJ would get me an updated O.S. sooner!
