To answer your question: I somewhere read, that the MPC 1k and 2k5oo are actually the same. Same Size and Resolution. If you take a closer look at this screen, it appears to be the same display http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0 ... pc2500.jpg But you better check the specs in the manuals. So do you wanna create a flip screen? Would be great to have one, though! I'll post the link here when I find it again...

About them panels: I got a carpenter next door, he said he would create some side panels out of mahogony for 50 Euros. I'm gonna get me those as soon as I got the gwop again :)

PEACE

the reason for him wanting to know if the 1k and 2500 screens are compatable is because he is selling the blue backlit screens.

he wants to know if the same screen will work in both models.

i think its great that he and some other cats out there are willing to take this type of customization work on... and i thought i was gutsy by customizing the colours of my 1k!

i'm definatley coppin one of the blue screens, they look dope as fuk!

they are 170 bucks a pop shipping included, he hit me up on the pm. pretty fair if you ask me.

hopefully we will see pics soon...

peace.

Hey! I got a customized mpc2500 with a blue screen! The colour of my mp was done way before Akai released the mpc2500le and i even had a talk to Akai about ripping my idea! anyway after that i didnt want to post pics of my screen! but hear you are! I documented everything and took photo's of the process of changing over the LCD's. I also changed the LED's too! While i was at it i designed a custom plate in metal with my own oldschool Akai mpc font!
If anyone has any questions lemme know! enjoy! Image

Thanks
Yeah for me it was pretty easy! but researching the screen and sourcing the LCD was the hard part.
The LED's were an easy swap.
the color is just a giant sheet of adhesive vinyl! the lettering was a B@#$% i did it all be hand!
Peace!

yeah i been researching this screen stuff lately too, care to share where yours came from trybtek? I've found a couple places that seem to do em in black with white lettering sort of style, also vice versa, but i'm thinkin the black would look especially sick with the black 1k, so im gonna order both next week when i gots the dosh and test it out.
This is getting really cool, can't wait to see what other modifications are gonna come from people now!

Christfutura,
I'm currently planning a prodject MPC 1k. and wanted to know is the LCD display of the 1k the same size/dimensions as the 2.5k? Also, what are some of the ways in which these screens differ?
Thanx in advance...
