Poise is a drum sampler.

While at heart Poise is just a sampler, it has been designed from the ground up with drums in mind. The workflow and options available have been tweaked to this end.

POISE is fantastic.

this has become my favorite way to layer samples from records.
i use chopped breaks in the mpc, allow my DRUM pgm to output midi notes, and then use the midi learn function to trigger pads via POISE. it's like OLD SIMULT on steroids.

you can even drag samples and items from your DAW and drop them on the poise pads to assign them. it has multiple outputs, too, AND individual ADSR control of each layer.

i highly recommend you try out the demo.

It would be twice as awesome if the MPC had been hard-wired with a USB 2.0 interface allowing for it to be used as a sound module (like a POD XT+), but yeah... MPC composition on the PC, with the ability to transfer files in native formats back and forth, would be amazing.

Yeah, I've been up on this for a minute, and since it's still in beta we can be sure that this one is going to develop into a champion.

The ultimate would be a VST that interfaced in real-time with JJ OS -- the likelihood of this ever happening of course is very slim

did some real testing of Poise last night.
this thing is off the hook. for such an early beta, Poise is REALLY a mature program
i ran across several bugs, but nothing that would keep Poise from being a very powerful addition to jjos.

poise is great because of its velocity control, ala os1. attack, level, pitch, filters--even a distortion can all be modulated via velocity.

you can set 8 sounds to a pad, with SEPARATE adsr.
these can be layered, or triggered via round robin, cycle, or velocity switching.

assigning note to pad is very easy - right click on a pad, click LEARN TRIGGER NOTE, and simply tap your mpc pad. you can even do a kind of simult pad by setting 2 pads to trigger off the same note.

another real nice bit is the "delay" function, ie sample offset.

more on this later. i'm in contact with the programmer of Poise, and i see really really good things for this in the future.

and for $30 bucks it's ALREADY a steal. after you track your stuff out from DAW, this is a great way to add more percussion using your mpc. similarly, it's REAL good when you start to max your polyphony and still need to add some extra percussion.

sounds awesome, i've been using Vstack for a while, but this looks lite and user friendly.

I went on looking for some VST-based samplers to compliment 1k and currently Short Circuit 2 looks nicest; However seems that it's discontinued

I would buy Poise in second if it could read OS2 programs.

if there were a mac version i'd buy this.

poise has found a permanent place in my setup. i couldn't recommend this enough.

hey yall, poise sounds great an all but theres been software like this around for years. just not at this price maybe...

i've seen stuff that's similar, but not quite like this. would love you to drop some names though just for the sake of consolidation

poise has been compared to FL's FPC.
there's stuff like addictive drums, BFD or kontakt, but to me these are all larger than they need to be. GURU too, although it's definitely sweet software - i just have no need/want for the extra bloat of the sequencer, etc

Exactly, you get cool feature like some of the bigger programs but in a small and simple vst instrument. Poise is definitely got a place on my daw.
