spend the extra cash support jj and you can always go back to jjos 1 while still having os 2 installed

i've tried os2 and i'm back on os1.

it's really the single filter that's the deal-breaker with os2 for me so far... this combined with the limitations on q-link control parameters.

About the filters :
- The mis of the second filter is a heavy loss for me (Akai is not famous for effects and filters everybody knows that, but combinate Filter 1+2 was usefull and the only way to get something decent if you play house , electro or what else ...)
- The behaviour of the filter attack is getting strange, even when it is set to flat position (try to filter in LP mode a music sample in both OS and you will understand what I'm talking about ... (listen to the "blurp!" in the beginning of the sound in OS 2 with cutoff between 0 an 20)
makes my old sessions almost unsusable in OS2

About the INST Prgm :
- The ADSR are great but the loss of layers in a INST program doesn't make sens here, (unless I mis something)
for ex to make a cool Rhodes INST prgm with velocity layers, that's what I'v expected from OS2.
- remember the 2500 (and 1000) as only 32 voices of polyphonie, this is too short if you put some realese in your INST prgm, and if the samples you are using are stereo this is the end of your polyphonie (like a stereo multisample piano for ex)
- The portamento is restricted in one key group of a INST prgm (??) when I could't make my cool Rhodes INST Prgm with layers (but only a borring one with one layers lol) I said "let's make a cool mono Moog bass with portamento, the machine will be in this sens a kind of synth / mono synth", but the portamento does'nt work if you use several samples in your prgm (It works only for one sample at time grrr) so I could't get my cool bass as I want it.
- result of what I've tried myself or dowloading here in the forum made by other users, the INST prgm maked with OS2 sounds weak and poor compare to anything you can compare it today
So I just simply drop the idea to use the mpc as a sound module for the moment

Back and forth :
- Be carrefull about begining a project in OS2, you will have problems to make it works correctly in OS1 if you changed your mind
- The Drums prgm maked in OS2 are screwed up in OS1

So :
I focused here on the points I dont' like in OS2 and was importants enought to get me back on OS1,
there is many other features on OS2 who are find and some others then I just simply don't use.
My expectations was especialy arround the INST prgm who was for me the major news that make the mpc completely stand alone whith S sampler serie features and that's why I purchased OS2.

I was using OS1 from the beginning and I'm very happy with it .... thant's JJ you put that MPC to an other level !

I hope the developpement of OS2 will continue a sure way and get is promissing goals,
the JJ crew make a amazing job, I'm 37 and I've tried many hardware music devices the last 20 years,
believe me guys, but changing radicaly the features of your harware device was unthinkable years ago,
we bought new ones : ) ... and again ... and again ...

Come on, make that OS2 Rocks for real !

don't worry about that one, i reported it on 1.11 and apparently jj hadn't been aware of it. i'm pretty sure it'll be fixed in the next version or two.



velocity layers in INST pgms would be nice, but also very high in resource use. i see inst pgms best as a way to layer sounds with VSTs, but they're also fantastic for bass, synth, and other applications that don't require vel. switching. DEFINITELy gotta watch your poly with these though - sometimes it just makes more sense to use a VST or external hardware.

I sometimes combine the filters (since they are weak alone), but I mostly miss being able to boost the low on drums and bass by putting a hi-pass around 11 or 12 while cutting their high ends off in the mid-60s.
