What about recording via SPDIF ?

I have a mixer with SPDIF out, which is plugged into the MPC2500 SPDIF in.

The mixers master signal is red hot, but the signal in the MPC is far from red.

And with SPDIF there is no gain knob right ?



Anyone use digital to sample ?

same here. im also recording via spdif and now i`m always using the normalize function afterwards, otherwise the signal is too low..

I seriously doubt that your master level on your mixer affects your SPDIF output.
One of the points of digital is a calibrated output with a defined level.
It's not a variable output level.

Best thing I can suggest to the people in this thread is go back to ground zero and setup your gain stages properly and you won't have any problems no matter which way you send your signals.
If your set them up properly you can look at any device and know what level any other device is receiving.
Also helps get the most out of your available headroom.
