Mic Question...

What is the best deal for a Mic?
I was looking into purchasing a mic to record hip hop lyrics and I wanted to know whats the best deal out now.

If you got any suggestions or help plz give the the Brand and name of the mic or links would be very helpful.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention that I aint ball'N so dont even bother posting up REALLY EXPENSIVE MICS cuz your boy here is on a budget.

Shure SM57/58. Good to have them around.

58 is a bit better for the vocals. You will eventually own many of these mics im sure. They are great for the price and strong as hell. Some would say its a great mic to train your ear to. But then again those are opinions.

If you can find a used Shure SM7, grab it. They're made for broadcasts and voiceovers. @$350 new.

If it matters at all to you (weird mic trivia), it was the mic used for most off the vocals on Thriller (and they could have used any mic in the world.)

I called my local downtown LA connect and they said they would sell me the SM58 for $50 brand new. You'd be amazed about the deals you can get in downtown LA. lol

the sm 58 is a good live mic but not to record tracks! what chu need hmmm maybe a t-bone or akg

i gotta a mxl 990 and 991 for $100 brand new (a few years ago). the mics are st8 but they better with a tube amp. look into a tube while you at it.

areosmith used sm58s on all their studio albums vocals, cant think of his name at the moment. not saying that it is right or wrong, but its definetly a "sound" preference kinda thing.
