damn, alright.....first this has been posted before. Also check out
www.tritonhaven.com go to the forums, ask triton questions there too.
hook up the midi cables. On the triton in global mode, go to the midi menu page. check "external" instead of "internal" also turn local control off. CHanging internal to external is telling the triton that an "external" module will send the timing clock to control the midi messages being sent. Turning local control off is telling the triton, that the triton wont play any sound unless its recieving a timing clock from an external sequencer.
go to the mpc, select your track#, start with track 1-midi channel 1,2,3,4,etc. (or whatever midi channel you want) this is under the track #: change drum1 to midi, change "off" to: midi channel 1,2,3,4,5 which ever one you want.
midi channel 1 corresponds to track 1 on the triton (in seq mode)
remember, IF you want more than one sound coming out the triton i.e. 16 tracks, you have to be in sequence mode. If you are in combi or program mode, you will only get the sound that is currently selected in that mode.
Anyways, midi channel two on the mpc corresponds to track 2 in seq mode on the triton, same as midi channel 3 on mpc to track 3 on the triton, so on and so forth; THE MIDI CHANNEL # ON THE MPC CORRESPONDS TO THE TRACK # ON THE TRITON. ON the mpc, the track # and midi channel # are two separate identities. THIS MEANS you can have track 3 selected, and change the midi channel to whatever # you want.
SO FOR EXAMPLE on the mpc, track 5 can say midi channel 2, 3,5,6,7 or whatever. BUT the midi channel # will always match the tracks on the triton. GET it? so say on the mpc it is track 5, midi channel 1. This means that whatever sound selected on track 1 on the triton will play for midi channel 1 on the mpc. If on track 6 you select midi channel 1 you will play the same sound as track 5.
now you have to record your sequences on the mpc, i.e. hit play and record, then play on the triton keys. Just because you are in sequence mode on the triton, it has nothing to do with the sequencer on the triton. SEQ mode on the triton is both the sequencer, and "multi mode" where you can have multitimberal function using an external sequence i.e. the mpc.
I know it seems complex and it isnt, when i try to explain its hard because it is not as hard as it is to write it out step by step.
