4K ADAT REALTIME VST FX?

Hey all..

I guess this is impossible but here we go:

I wanna use the 4000 with the ADAT out card into a EMU 1212m soundcard running on a Windows XP PC. I got no problems with stability etc.

Say I got 8 channels of drums or whatever going out through the adat outs on the 4000 into the ADAT in on the EMU.

Can I somehow use vst/dx plugins (Nuendo) in realtime to manipulate the sounds coming from the 4000 or do I HAVE TO record the sounds into Nuendo as audio first?

I'd love to be able to use vst EQ's and such "live" on the 4000 somehow. I asked a friend and he said the only way that would be possible would be gettin ProTools HD which is wayyyy out of my reach financially.

So is there anyway to do this? Im willing to switch from Nuendo to something else but I'm not on a big budget and as I understand PT mpowered/LE wont make this possible?

Any suggestions?

I kinda feels this takes away from me being as creative as possible... I love the 4000 Sequencer so maybe I should just ignore its sampler and run some softsampler controlled by the 4000s sequencer... Maybe that is the only way to get "best of both worlds"...

Sure dude, you can do that and its quite simple!
You want to apply fx to 8 tracks so create 8 tracks in nuendo, asign your soundcard´s inputs to those tracks adat1, adat2, adat3, etc,.. In nuendo´s edit or mixer window each track got an speaker icon, this is monitor and you have to activate all of them. Now you are done, start inserting plugs in your tracks and you should be able to listen them in real time.
Maybe u can have some latency, it will depend of your soundcard and your CPU, anyway if you are using digital inputs you are skiping one A/D conversion so uur card will be processing less..

Yes, console is a great soft if you want to use plugins without a sequencer, just like an unlimited sound module, I used it in one track time ago and it really rocks.. The only thing I missed was a decent VST mixer with aux buses, is there now something out there?

Yeah im running into problems here... Its that damn Emu Patchmix mixer... its a **** mess. I'll read up on it but it wouldnt surprise me if I had to change soundcard.

Hey, what soundcard are you using? Im having no luck here and I think its the buggy/weird Emu Patchmix Software.

I cant get this shit to work... I cant even get the adat busses to show up in nuendo again like they did a while back. **** Im going berzerk here.

I´m using a M-Audio 1814.
Maybe u should reinstall your drivers but I assume that you have already done it...
Look in Nuendo´s device configuration and select your ASIO emu driver, and then hit F4 (connections) to patch your I/O, thats the way to do this but it seems that you have some driver or OS problem.. blame fukin Bill Gays!!! I do it every day. Thats the reason because I use to keep my computer away from creative process, sometime ago I bought an analog mixer, some comps, fx and a pair of decent stereo EQs and now I´m a happy old-school guy!

Thx for the reply.. I also suspect faul play in drivers/OS. I wish I could go back to old school too but the $ just aint there. Maybe someday ill own a 2" 24 track studer and a neve console :P
