possessed mixer

When im assigning the EFX to pads via the mixer the level of the faders become possessed, i mean the levels always shoot down to the bottom. This get really annoying when trying to just the right amount of reverb on a snare.

Does anyone know a fix for this ?.

sure u arent talking about the (use recorded mixer events=on)? this could be resetting your mutes/levels as you run the seqs?

When i hit the pad to highlight that channel and then scroll to the desired amount of the effect and then highlight another pad the level will drop 0

i've noticed this, my main issue is that i'll PAN way the hell over to one side out of the blue.

it's not such a bother that i've taken the time to bug report it, but i'm aware of it and i'll nail it one day or another.

if anyone else can beat me to reproducing it, i'll call them a better hunter.

Sweet though my MPC was busted, so its just a bug.

well the same thing happens to me with panning too...

and this was driving me absolutely crazy until i realized this was happening
because my QLINK 1 was dieing.

----if your mixer seems possessed try this: ----------

go to the qlink screen, assign the qlinks to anything,
move them a little bit, then leave them alone for awhile.
if you notice the qlink value has changed byitself then your qlink
is acting up/dieing (and thats probably what is causing your mixer to change pan/volume to random values).

once i realized this i stopped using the mixer since qlink1 controls pan and qlink2 controls volume. instead i started using GPE for pan and volume control.

and a bad qlink just gets worse over time.
my qlink1 is so bad now that the value changes randomly about every second!!
it sucks.

i have a desoldered qlink slide pot. tomorrow while at work, i'll scan it next to a ruler and get Mouser to source the part. while i'm at it i'll scan the rotary encoder, too.

hey doods,

i had similar issues with a dodgy qlink making twitchy value adjustments when not even being touched, manual movement of qlink1 was even affecting qlink2 values !

i thought i'd found a bug, but by co-incidence, i looked at the pcb around the same time i needed to switch an old pad for a new one, and i noticed that the pcb on the qlink section had a dry / cracked solder spot.

i reheated it and it set fine, and now - no problems.

caution : just be aware it may not be software errors.

So do i have to have the Q-links on/assigned for this to happen or will this effect levels regardless ?. I know what punchdrunk said, but this there some test for the faders like there is for the pads ?

only way to test the faders would be to sequence them and view the data in the grid editor. and they send out's CC#, so try monitoring the midi output on your computer, using MIDI OX.

in the mixer screen qlink1 controls pan/outs and qlink2 controls level.
there is no way to necessarily assign or unassign this (as far as i know).

what i wrote earlier is the easiest way i've found to see if your qlinks are messed up.
you dont need anything recorded, and in fact the mpc should be stopped...

Thanks guys, its true even the pans are possessed and i dont know if these means anything but when i hold down the 2 qlink buttons at once the bank D button lights up ?. Sadly the MPC is only 5 months should i take it back for repairs ?. Also i cannot seem to get the Qlink's to move the level's, pans, start/end points...do i have to assign that ?

are u sure you havent accidentally recorded some 'mixer' movements - pan levels etc, 'cos they WILL be recorded, and then played back if "Use events=on" (main screen - top right).

just to discount user error, since u aint had it that long, and its a new-ish unit - unlikely to be faulty already right?

i wouldnt be surpised, sadly they dont make em like they used to.
